    Hey all,

I have a 2011 PreRunner with the 4.0 V6 and the TRD Off Road package. I have the factory Toyota alloys with 265/70/16 Hankook off road tires.

I'd like to eventually run a little larger tire, but I don't go off road. I just think that Tacomas Look better with a lift and bigger tires.

I like the way the truck rides now and would like to stay that way. I just need a litle more clearance.

Will 285/70/16 tires fit the stock alloy wheels or do I Need new rims too? I'm trying to keep costs to a minimum, plus I like the look of the stock alloys and would rather not change them out if I didn't have to.

I known someone with 265/75/16 tires on the stock alloys but I don't like the look of the skinnier tires to gain a inch of height.

A couple of years ago I talked with one of my neighbors who had just had a 2" lift installed on his new Tacoma and said it was (at that time) about $600 installed, but I don't remember what components he had. I would like to stay around that price range but I know that every year things go up in price. :(

I know I would lose power and torque going with a bigger tire, and I do tow a 3,000lb travel trailer on occasion, so that is a concern.

I hope I'm not, as Data from Star Trek once said, 'In Pursuit Of An Untamed Ornithoid Without Cause.' ;)

Thanks in advance for the help. This forum has been really great.

Spacer lift works for this scenario. It will ride similar to stock. Cheap and easy to reverse or sell if you don’t like it.

285s will likely rub, even with upper control arms.

If you want the least issues stick with 265 75 and simply run an aggressive tire in 10 ply, it will look wider.

Thanks. Right now this is just a 'druther', but i could just as well leave it the way it is.

Go with 265/75/16... no rubbing, cutting, chopping and minimal power loss. Towing your trailer with 33's you'd more than likely need to regear. If you want it to look wider get a wheel with 0 to -10 offset.... stay away from wheel spacers imho.
