Fog Light Wiring to Toggle

I have a 2022 Tacoma SR, V6, 4X4 with no fog lights. I have read the posts about how to add the switch depending whether truck is pre-wired for fog lights, etc. I don't want to add the fog light switch to the steering column and go through all that. If I buy the harness that plugs into the back of the lights, anybody know how to wire the lights to a standalone switch? I would just like to add a toggle switch under the dash.

 

Is your truck wired for fogs at all? Are the lines tucked up where the fogs would be/empty slot in the fuse box etc? Or are you looking to run all the wiring and everything on your own?

Best to wire that circuit to a relay and have a fused control circuit to your switch, even if you're looking at low draw LED lamps.

 

Wiring fogs on a stand alone switch is pretty straight forward. But adding the switch to the steering wheel is super easy. I was a little nervous before I did it, but it was much easier than I thought. Took like 10 minutes. Was so quick, the wife didn’t even have time to come out and shake her head at me If you are prewired, it makes the whole process super easy. If you aren’t prewired, you can still add the stalk switch and use it to control a relay. Is all the stalk switch does is make a circuit to ground, so it’s easy enough to use it if you are not prewired.

 

You can also add a FJ style switch to the dash.
