    Check build thread!
I’m sorry man. I got dumped by the girl I was planning to purpose to about 2 months ago now. Shit killed me inside. But I found peace. Suns always gonna come up Tommorow, and life changes in the blink of an eye.

Some sad stories in this thread. Sorry to hear about anyone’s misfortune. The holidays are the most dangerous time to be down and Hallmark movies and flannel shirts are not a fix all.

Everyone has rough spots in life but just try keeping positive.

Not sure about local LEO agency policies, but at a federal LE standpoint if one is honest about smoking recently…that won’t end well.

My understanding is you need a year clean to be eligible for Fed. Err, you will be asked if you have taken any illegal substances in the last year.

    This.
Deleting threads doesn’t put one in the clear. You did the act, own up to it. Lying is much much worse than owning up to a stupid “mistake.”

Might be tough but keep your head up.

You posting and getting it all out in the open is a step many of us don't even bother to take so more power to you.

Now that it's out there, you can assess your situation, formulate a plan, and move forward.

I'm wishing you nothing but the best; sure the move didn't work out as planned but it's an opportunity for an all-new beginning.

If you ever need an ear, you're always welcome to shoot me a PM.

With the lengthy application process, a doable goal would be timing the application for at least a year before a security clearance is put in for.

Everyone here has expressed concerns and offered you support and as many have pointed out - you have options as an LEO.

A truck is a truck. No last straws unless you want them to be.

You'll find all sort of folks here willing to help out.

Edit: Sorry about the harsh line. I didn't see you responded... Keep it up. You'll get there.

Good people giving you good advice here. One free therapy that has scientific backing is forward motion. If you go for a brisk walk while thinking about your problems, your brain should start to feel like you’re moving forward - not just through space - but through your troubles.

I feel for you man, so many people have lived through so much. I wish there were words that could fix it all. Just know lots of people have been through relatable things. And you have a community that cares about you.
    feel free to DM

Ps - The goods of commerce get to market via trucks. There is a major shortage of class 6,7,8 drivers. A CDL with a hazmat endorsement pays upwards of $100K and most major carriers will foot the bill for CDL training. If you have a little wander lust in you soul, you might want to take a look. Because of the shortage, most major carriers are very sensitive to accommodating drivers with families.

I never made it to that point. One of the interviewers joked that I had been to jail more than some of the inmates.
Law Enforcement isn’t for me though. I don’t have the temperament for it.

My advice to delete his posts and threads here and on other sites has nothing to do with lying. Absolutely you don’t want to lie, they/polygraph will catch you. It’s just that you don’t want a lot of information out there on the net that puts you in a bad light. Information in this case that shows poor decision making ability and a certain immaturity. Ever been through an interview to become a LEO? A lot of the questions are an attempt to assess your decision making ability quickly and under stress. I am not trying to be harsh or mean towards the OP but it appears the poor decisions or maybe not well thought out decisions started with leaving the PD and continued on to the present. As things started to go wrong he didn’t have any contingency plans or back up plans, and he didn’te have sufficient finances when things started going south. Not well thought out, not great decisions . Airing details of your problems on the net which the next PD will see is just a bad idea. If he was becoming a cook or carpenter or salesman it probably wouldn’t have any effect or consequences. But to become a LEO is a whole different story. And is there more stuff on other sites? As a former cop who wants to get back into it he should know better than to put personal information out there on the net.
I would still delete everything personal that I could.

Piece of advice I picked up years ago from a Viet Nam veteran in a wheelchair... "Keep your eyes on the horizon, if you look down your only going to see your feet"

Sounds like you’d fit great in the Armed Forces
Totally agree. I worded my post poorly. I’m not arguing that he should be actively posting about this subject, more that what’s out there is out there.

Not sure what else he has posted online, but imo a thread like this is an indication of remorse and an act that seeks support in finding a path forward.

I personally will not advocate for deleting a thread like this. Should it have been posted? No. But if someone reaches the point where such a thread is necessary to point them in the correct direction, they need to live with the potential consequences.

    /soapbox lol

To swing it back to OP, it’s safe to assume that many before you (such as those Navy guys/gals lol) have made highly questionable decisions and kept their government careers.

    :deadhorse:

But there’s no trouble in SoCal. Nothing whatsoever. Nothing to see. Move on :D

I needed new roof shingles last year after hurricane ida. New shingles and all involved costs about $15k

My insurance paid $3k of it

I've paid the insurance about$55k over the years...

But legally, i must have insurance...
