My dads 6.2 gets better mileage than my Tacoma and I am by no means a stop light racer.

You can’t trailer the bikes to the location you ride?

I’ve considered the same thing over and over again. Pretty much the Same age as you, and miss my v8 lol.
Everytime what stops me is the benefit of Toyota cost of ownership, and the price of vehicles right now. It’s just not worth it. If you need more capacity for your bikes then get a trailer. Save that money and spend it on something else. But switching to full-size v8 unless you really need it, not worth unfortunately. Harsh reality of changing times lol

I can respect this. I currently own a 2015 tundra which I bought new. It has a 125k miles on it now and has been flawless. But I have only needed/ used the v8 size and power a handful of times in the past 7.5 years. I also daily drive it and spend a ton of money in fuel as the truck is on 35s. I’ve contemplated going back to a Tacoma. It would fill my needs just fine. And I could pass it on to my son in about 8 years…. It’s been on my mind a lot lately.

Just caught up on this thread.

OP asks a question. 13 pages of infighting follows. OP is called a troll for steering clear of this shit show. When he does post again…13 pages later…he’s called a punk.

Some of you need to drive your trucks more and post less.

OP: I’ve had one GM truck. It was a 2006 2500 LBZ which was probably the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. However that’s an apples to oranges comparison….

However my company had a fleet of 2008 Silverados with varying engines. We had no higher rate of failure with the 5.3 “office trucks” than we’ve had with any other platform. Those trucks all made it past 200k miles.

What GM has done to the 5.3 since then…I have no idea. Best of luck with whatever choice you make.

    Hey,
Nothing wrong with a 5.3 if you fix the issues by getting rid of the AFM / DOD‼️
    It’s what I had done to the 2006 5.3 L33 I’m having installed in our 07.
The engine builder just finished the engine refresh & upgrades including a little more cam.
Now I’m looking for a Trailblazer SS manifold. Then it goes to the installer (above my skill level, abilities and lack of proper tools) to get installed. Hoping for 325 to 350 wheel HP.
This will go in front of a New Old Stock Tremec TKO wide ratio w/ a TrueTrac and 3.73 gear. At 70 mph the engine should be turning 2100 RPMs. See photos below…
Oh, the last photo is what it’s replacing, 07 w/ 34k miles, 2TR, R155 Trans., w/ a Magnuson supercharger system (I was the Guinea Pig for and I worked at making it stealth aka factory looking. Look closely!) #3 Snow water/meth system w/ braided lines and tuned with Heltech 1500 w/ 222 wheel HP. I’m keeping the Heltech, LCE header & exhaust but the rest will be posted for sale just after the first of the year (hopefully!). The parts will be available for pickup in El Centro, CA. *Edit* I can ship after I get the truck & parts back but I have no idea how long the install will take.

Well said, sir; well said. I get it, it's the internet and everyone has an opinion. Everyone is an expert on every truck out there (despite never owning it or even driving it even on a test drive). Everyone knows someone who owns/owned ________ truck (basically ANYTHING other than a Tacoma or Tundra) and to hear them tell it, they're lucky to be alive and/or the truck fell apart on the way home from buying it. Tacomas and Tundra blow gold dust out their exhausts, are 100% perfect and NEVER have issues, and simply cannot be improved.

So many hyperbolic, immature, false/non-fact based, Kool-Aid drinker responses, not just in this thread, but ANY time someone asks about anything not made by the mothership Toyota. I could go on and on, but @skiploder summed it up pretty well.

Have a great day everyone & drive safe.

Whoa, dude…. I liked his post, him calling all of us boomers, and replied. The internet is hard to convey light jokes.

Honestly, with all the problems GM 5.3s have right now, if I had to buy one I'd be tempted to try the 2.7 turbo 4. They've all got their fair share of problems though.

So, I'm curious if you decided to go with the Trail Boss. If you did, how are you liking it? Any fun plans for it?
