Cheap mods you are proud of

Just curious to see any cheap mods that makes you proud!
As for me, I made this emblem a while while back. I called it the “Shift knob TRD emblem mod” in the thread I started back then.
It is still on my shift knob and ain’t going anywhere. This little TRD thing makes me really proud.

 

Made the flag for free with a Cricut (if we are considering these mods lol)

All of the custom vinyl work I've done on my truck. I own a vinyl plotter for my small graphic design/apparel business so it was a no brainer for me to add unique, custom touches. I don't usually have orange vinyl on hand, so purchasing the roll was pretty much the only cost to me (don't tell the IRS but I made the business buy it lol)

 

I added a few red accents to my pro. Painting the pro badge on the back red is one

 

Dechroming and repainting all the interior trim to MGM:



Then restitching and paint-matching an OEM Pro knob to fit the Off-Road scheme with my MGM trim (the knob wasn't cheap but modding it was):



And first one I think to mod these OE RAV4 XLE knobs and make them fit the stock headunit (older pic):

 

Made a front hitch at work, did a little trimming, yada yada.



Went back and trimmed some more and did a little more welding for some shackles.

 

Tractor tire radio knobs from one of my kids broken tractors.

 

All of my mods are cheap. I don't buy quality, I buy bargains.


Dumbest cheap mod that I like: Chalk bag cupholder.

Cheap mod that I'm most proud of: Heated seats. 80 bucks for the kit, 20 bucks worth of materials, but required a complete tear-down of the interior to install.

Dumbest cheapest mod: Red piping on all four doors to match the Meso chrome delete. 6 bucks.

 

1cm square of black electrical tape I applied over the D in the automatic shift lever gate.

 

Does repurposed equal cheap? I took some really nice (but expensive) custom billet aluminum radio knobs out of my C6 Corvette before I sold it and retro-fitted them to use on the Taco. I cut out the plastic base from the stock knobs and glued them to the back of the billet knobs. A few coats of jet black gloss paint and we had a serious winner here!

 

How many HP gain is that?

 

Well it did come out of a Corvette with the 436 HP LS-3 motor, so do the math!

 

i fixed an annoying creaking noise by spraying aerospace 303 on my trim.

 

How difficult was it to restitch the trd shift knob? I hate the red stitching and accent.

 

Out of all the mods, for some reason this is my fav.

 

Wrapping the shift knob and storage box with Army Green vinyl wrap.

 

Green valve stem caps when I only have 78% Nitrogen in the tires.

 

Not me. I fill my tires with acetylene. Roll a bead on the trail, boom, it instantly reseats. I don't even have to get out.
