I have a 99 2.4 Tacoma and the manifold gasket has finally let got after 360k miles. I was thinking since I have to take it off to replace the gasket, would it benefit me any performance / sound wise to just throw a header on there? LMK your inputs. Thanks in advance.

If this is a forever truck, sounds like it is...I think a 2UZ-FE may bolt right up. There's your power and sound although, I may be corrected here shortly.

Really only you can say if it’s worth it or not.

if you’re doing the work yourself you’re already saving on labor, so there’s that. But new gasket vs price of headers is really up to you. Not familiar with your engine or what performance (if any) you could expect.

I recommend searching YouTube for sound clips before purchasing to make sure you know what you’re getting into

My brother in law put headers on his V6 and it gave him nothing but headaches afterwards. Leaking, warping it was just never the same again. He ended up getting rid of it.
Others may have had better luck though.
If it was me, I'd just replace the gasket on the OG manifold.
