That looks like a sweet under hood setup. I want lights there too, but...

...THIS looks great! I think I may go ahead and try this out for the bed! Thanks!

Yeah, saw that Amazon has about 3 million choices for LED strips. I really like the simplicity and completeness of the kit from Matt Gecko.

Perhaps my only decision now is white or blue lights. :spending:
It's amazing how fast you guys come to the rescue and make sure that CC doesn't gather any dust.

They get brittle if you don't use them often enough. ;)

White. You'll regret blue when you're tired and looking for something.

Also, DD rock lights would work in there

I bought these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07KXR799K?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 My situation is different though, my cap is wired for a dome light with a switch just inside the door, which I can tap into for lighting on demand. A pin style switch off the tailgate would be slick but as you said, having the lights on while driving with the tailgate down would not be the best. Having a manual switch would be a better solution. Having the switch in the bed might be handier?

I don't have pictures, but... I bought a light kit from someone-maybe MESO Customs? and installed it. Put a switch just inside the bed and made it so it could be on a pressure switch from the tailgate or turned on with the switch in the bed. There are not a lot of options on the pressure switch and it has since failed. The lights are LED and run around the perimeter of the bed just at the rail. Like it alot. Took a morning to wire up. I can get you more specifics after work if you need them.

Edit: Matt Geko! That is who I got the kit from. He also stood behind it when it failed a few years later!

My neighbor bought these lights on eBay as a Christmas gift and installed it a few years ago on my 2017 Sport.
Since I traded that one in I need to do this on my 2021 Tacoma.

    XPRITE Lights led
He installed them just under the Tacomas rail system using rivets. The lights are also hooked up when you open the doors or use the cargo light switch that’s in the 3rd brake light. (I know that light switch came standard on the 3rd Gen TRD models)

Thanks for reminding me I haven’t added this yet and would come in handy on my next camping trip.

My 2021 has the pre cut slots in my bed for the Toyota Factory bed lights. Just need to pop the 2 panels off.

Boy, my Mom and her BF can't get a break. This happened today. Now, the fire department pulled their meter and they need a licensed (in Florida) electrician to sign off to get the power back on. I can't do anything for them! :annoyed:

Another 10 minutes and the house might have been a loss. They had already gotten a new stove and refrigerator, and they burned along with the temporary pantry. o_O

    Thank you!

Yeah, it looked like a shitty outlet arced until it finally caught fire. It's frustrating because I know I could have fixed that before it was a problem

Wow... I thought I was having a rough day with misbehaving computers. Hope their luck changes soon. Sucks that your licensing is meaningless there for this.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward white. Blue would look cool though...

Yeah, the more I considered it, a switch in the bed would be best.

That's pretty slick, but if/when I get more lighting, I don't imagine I'll have much use for turning on the lights from the bed, other than the bed lights, of course. Nice clean setup though!

I'm hearing good things about his products and good customer service. I have a set in my shopping cart there, ready to send it!

Um, I need friends who buy me truck stuff for Xmas! Maybe I need a new approach... "Yeah, I'll help you move that, but you need to contribute to my Truck Upgrades Fund!"

I had to run outside just now to see if my bed had those pop off panels for the factory bed lights, and it does! Never noticed them before. That's intriguing, but I think I still like the indirect light from the strip lights under the rail better. Decisions...o_O

Thanks for all the help and advice fellas. I feel like this could have been its own topic elsewhere on the forums (and has been many times probably) but dealing with you guys I don't have to put up with egos and asinine comments and insults.

    Side note:

The guy in the light blue coveralls is my Mom's BF. This guy is 78 and still one of the toughest motherfuckers I know. He grew up on a farm in Downsville. That guy has been through some crazy shit, including literally being blown up. He was told he'd never walk again. And, at 78, he is rebuilding his own house, with help. This guy is an inspiration to me constantly.

    I just thought I'd share.
