I am needing to remove my fuel tank to replace the sending unit. I saw a video on how to do this on you tube and he did not relieve the fuel pressure. Yet I see some posts that say you need to do this. Is relieving the pressure necessary and if so how do I do it. Thanks for any suggestions.

Do you have to? No. Should you? Probably but most people don't.
I just wrap a rag around the fittings before I pull them off so I don't get sprayed.

If you insist on relieving the pressure just pull the C/OPN relay, start the truck, and let it run until it stalls but be aware you may set codes in the PCM that will need to be cleared.
