Ive only had my truck since August so this is my first winter. Have been very apprehensive about these stock tires as Ive run AT's on all my trucks and jeeps for many years now. Was on the fence about keeping them on there, but decided to try them out for this winter at least.
Snowed here today, not alot, just a couple inches, but just enough to cause those slushy, snow ruts in the roads. Enough to go out and see how these tires perform. Hit the ruts in the roads on purpose, kind of trying to make them slip, and also hit the fresh, unhit, snow roads in the state park and a few unused logging and utility roads. I gotta say I am very impressed with these Toyo A30s. They performed perfectly, up to and even better than the previous BFG KO2's or Falken Wildpeaks Ive had in the past.
Now, to be fair, I only have 3k on them so Id imagine that the performance will drop with usage (but thats true of any and all tires) Overall though, Im quite happy with how they did and glad I saved that 1k or so that I was going to spend on new tires.
Also, I know many people replace them to go with a more aggressive look, but thats not what Im referring to here. Just speaking strictly about performance.
So not really a question here, just an observation and some insight for those out there who are also on the fence about replacing them due to thinking they wont hold up in the wet, snowy, slushy stuff. From what Ive seen today, they will. Save your money for now...or spend it on more beer like Im going to....:D
