:oldglory:Hello Tacoma World. First off let me say a huge THANK YOU to everyone on this forum. I have already learned so much without even asking. This is a solid bunch I’m proud to be a part of. Enough sentiment! On to the build o_O

I just purchased a 2001 Tacoma with 85k miles on it in the lovely jade green with a tan interior. All stock with the exception of a color matched Bel-Air camper shell. 5 speed base model 2.4 and I am owner #4. It’s been sitting a while so it has not passed smog.

First code it threw at me was P0171 and EVAP not ready. I replaced the MAF sensor with a Denso but have an OEM Toyota one in the mail. Mechanic also replaced a few seals here and there. That code since went away.

Now I’m getting a P1130 which I have seen is an upstream sensor (see everyone, I’m learning!) so I have an OEM one on the way which I will be replacing. Hopefully I can get this taken care of by the weekend as I’m headed up to Big Bear. I’ll take some pictures when it’s sunny. Here’s a list of things I’ve replaced so far.

    MAF sensor - Denso (10/25)
MAF sensor - Toyota 222040C010 (ordered)
Spark Plugs - NGK Iridium (11/1)
    Replaced fuses (11/1)
    Oil & filter - Mobil 1 5w30 full synth & Toyota OEM (11/2)
Fuel filter - Toyota 2330079446 (ordered)
Oxygen sensor - Toyota 8946735030 (ordered)
Honda Odyssey washer fluid nozzle (ordered)
    Locking gas cap (11/1)
Cobb Subaru 6 speed weighted shift knob (11/5)

Much more to come and any tips and help along the way is greatly appreciated. I will offer any knowledge if I can as well. I’m looking forward to a huge learning experience and being able to make this my camping truck. But first… this damn California smog certificate
    :annoyed:

Greetings from Big Bear. Happy to say the truck made it up here on less than half a tank with great power. Got some rain night 1. Definitely need some bigger tires with more grip. It will be snowing all night into tomorrow as well. The little truck is getting a full dose of Mother Nature on its’ 1st ever road trip!

To myself… the time, work, frustration, learning, and money has paid off. 11/11 we passed CA smog and fully registered.

This damn truck I swear. Back in the shop again due to the P0171 coming back. Leak is around the injector seals and all 4 injectors are being replaced too. More money…. PS it’s for sale if anyone wants it.

Truck is back. All 4 injectors and seals replaced. Pending a whole bunch of buyers and we can soon close this chapter and focus on the 23.

On a side note, if there’s anyone in the La Habra area who needs mechanic work, please call Miguel at Pro Auto. He does great work, honest, and really takes care of you price wise. He did all my repairs on this truck.
