    Understood.

Yer gonna want to reinforce the tailgate, too.

Better start looking into adding recovery hooks in the truck's bed while you are out it. One of Toyota's shortcomings in the lineup is they offer Long Bed, Short Bed, but are lacking a Stout Bed.

    Where did the doors go?

Hey, if the top does not come off, neither do the doors! Jeep guy here.

I got pulled over once in my Wrangler for not having doors on. Seems there is some law here or there about if the vehicle was equipped with doors they should be on the vehicle. But who cares, it is fun anyways. Jeeps usually get a pass, not sure about a Taco.

You know, just thinking, but tube doors with fabric or sheet metal lowers might be kinda cool on a Taco.

That is not true. My truck weighs hundreds of pounds less than it did new. The tires added a good bit of it back on, but if I put the stock dunlops and alloys on it would be a massive weight savings.

Back half bed cage removed a ton of weight, and the fuel cell put that weight in a much better position on the truck. All the airbags and extra systems, actuators, and pumps add up very fast. There are billet aluminum controls arms available, fiberglass hoods, fenders, and bedsides. Carbon fiber drive shaft & removal of 4x4. I bet if he pulled the back seats out that'd be at least a hundred pounds gone in minutes. You could put in a new steering column and trim a bunch. Lightweight battery, interior removal, aluminum/titanium bolt kits, lightweight pulleys, race seats, aftermarket header/exhaust. There is a ton of stuff he could do depending on how extreme he wants to go.

Dump the spare and carry a can of fix-a-flat
Run 1/2 tank of gas, or less
Take out the carpets, the adjustable tie-down thingys, passenger seat... everything not essential.
    Go on a diet
These suggestions may not be practical but they're only things I can think of to save any meaningful weight.
Also, good luck... utility vehicles are generally not designed for good power/weight ratios.

I'd pull the windshield. Aviator goggles are lighter and way cooler:)

I'm pretty sure a Prius isn't much lighter than a Taco, the batteries add a shitload of weight.

Sell Tacoma buy subaru sti = power too weight ratio problem solved. Turbo back exhaust and a protune, you'll be up 70-80ish hp and maybe 1200 pounds lighter. Never have to mess with a 4x4 knob again either.

Maybe you switch you seats out with styrofoam ones and swap your tires out with some heavy duty pool noodles
