    All,

I have a 2011 regular cab 2.7 that I purchased in December. Prior to delivery, I had an OME lift, ARB deluxe front bumper, Fab Four rear bumper and a winch installed.

I just priced a rear Elocker for ~$3200 with install.

The question; my truck has 155k miles on it and I don't know a ton about it's history. That said, I've seen no indication that it is anything but reliable. It is a third car, so won't be racking up a lot of miles.

Is there a mileage point where you would recommend I stop putting money into it and start thinking about what may be my next vehicle for offroad?

The price does not include new gears. The quote is for the locker, master install kit and labor.

I don’t know, I mean if are running a front and rear bumpers and a winch and want an Off-road rig.
I’d suggest a different gear ratio, even more since it won’t be your only ride.

I think $3200 is a lot to pay. What brand locker is it?

I paid $5000 for a front and rear ARB lockers and a front and rear regear to 4.88 and a twin ARB compressor. That was installed with labor so yes that is super steep for 1 locker and no regear. Granted I did mine about 1 year ago so idk if those prices have changed much (but I doubt it changed that much).

Little info first. Why do you want to install an e-locker? Why do you think you need an e-locker? What do you use the truck for? How much off roading if any do you do? Since you didn’t say, is it a 4wd?

Thanks for the perspective on the price for the ARB setup.

To answer Sprig's questions: Yes, it's a 4WD that's primary purpose is fun. It is off road at various off road parks/trails 2-3 times a month. I've had a few group ride situations recently where a locker would have been beneficial based on the steep rocky terrain where I live. I've had lockers in the past and am familiar with the design and use case. The question is more around putting additional money into my current truck with 155k miles, or buying something with at least a rear locker. Thx.

Since this is a third vehicle, used occasionally for basically weekend fun and 4 wheeling I say put $$$ into it. If it was a daily driver then I’d suggest a newer vehicle. As long as you can afford it and not go into debt or take out loans to mod it up then yes build your truck how ever you want. Make it your fun toy. If it were me under the same circumstances I’d put $$$ into it.

Why ask this question now after the full suspension, bumpers and winch?

Just keep it. My 2015 has 145,000 miles and I've never had any issues ever. No check engine lights, no mechanical issues, no funny noises. Just oil, filters and brake pads.

If you think putting money into the truck is investing I suggest that you put that money toward some financial education first.

If the truck is in good condition it'll easily go another 100k miles so don't let the current odo reading stop you. Also might be worth looking into an assembled 3rd from East Coast Gear Supply and install it yourself for about 1/2 the price.

Well with the way things are right now it might be investing. :p :boink:

I think keeping investing is a waste of money in your case. I always thought that investing in a car is the worst decision because it doesn't add any value to it when you sell it. It is why I would recommend you start thinking of investing in something that will make you even more money than you had in the beginning. You can find some good guides for alternative stocks at https://altinvestor.net/. I think you will find a lot of helpful information on this website about investing and not only.

If the frame is in good shape, you can keep these trucks running and going for a long time.
It sounds like you're the type that will 'keep investing' in any vehicle/toy you buy because you've already dropped a considerable amount of $ on it. If you're locked into this one for now, keep it.
You'll likely never recoup your investment so spend away and enjoy it the best you can.

Everything on the truck is replaceable...

But doing your own work makes is a lot cheaper to keep as an investment.
