Hello all. Relatively new to the forum. I’m currently waiting on a ‘23 Tacoma TRD Off-Road DC/LB in Lunar Rock. Made the initial deposit just a couple weeks ago. Really pumped as this will be my first truck. A Tacoma has always been on my “wishlist” but a new truck wasn’t in the budget until now… At first I was set on a SR5 with the SX package, but being that I plan to drive this truck for years to come, I want to get something I know that I’ll be happy with. The off road suspension, e lock, and Lunar Rock were all reason enough for me to spend a little more and go with the TRD OR.
A few questions I have for you all: Is the color keyed rear bumper worth the extra $$ since it’s only available with the Technology package? Pretty sure it’s around $1,200. I like the look of the color keyed rear bumper but don’t necessarily think I need the added tech package. If anything I’ll just slap some black bumper caps over the chrome and call it a day.
I’ve touched on this next question briefly on another thread, but I’m curious to hear others’ experiences thus far “ordering” a 2023. How long did you have to wait after making your deposit before the dealer gave you an anticipated build date, and what was the estimated time to build? Any specific experiences waiting for the Lunar Rock color vs others? So far my salesman has just told me that he won’t know anything until they get their allocation, and from that point it’s typically 6-8 weeks before they receive the truck. Really hoping to get a little more clarity as to just how long I’ll be waiting. That’ll at least tell me how long I need to ride around in the ol’ beater Lincoln that I’m currently driving. Hence the thread title “Impatiently Waiting” lol.

Lunar rock is worth the wait. Be patient. That’s all I can say

Many of us have suffered the wait. It’s temporary. The feeling of driving your taco off the lot will be with you forever!

Made the initial deposit at the beginning of October. Knowing that Lunar Rock is in high demand, Plan B is Celestial Silver. Either way, haven't heard anything new since making my deposit. From what others have told me, and reading other threads, I'm expecting to wait until at least Jan 2023 (that's probably optimistic).

I put my deposit down on a 23 OR D/C L/B in the middle of June. It was just built on Oct 31 in Celestial Silver. Still waiting for ship date. I should have it w/in a couple of weeks.

Congrats Yoda on your incoming truck! I have started the process for reserving TRD Off-road a few weeks ago and not having any luck. I have reached out to several dealers in my area and really non have been very helpful in finding a truck. Or even helping getting one reserved. They all want to steer you to something already on the lot or what’s incoming. I have learned a little about the Toyota allotment system, so I kinda know how that works. Any tips on helping me find one or working with dealers to reserve one would appreciated. Did you work with one dealer to get yours reserved? Did you go on a list? I’m willing to put down a deposit to reserve one? Thanks

Hey Bucs…We live in southern Idaho and had to go to three different dealers. One wanted me to buy what they had, even some pre-owned ones. They would also add a “market adjustment “ if I try to put a deposit down on a new one. They second dealer wanted a steep market adjustment. The third dealer had me put down $1,000 in June. They don’t tack on an additional market adjustment. They put me on a waitlist based on color, trim, bed size, and option packages. My truck was built on Oct 31 with my second color choice, bed size I wanted and the minimum option package. Hopefully I will have my truck by the end of the year. The dealer also helped my order a Leer camper shell that should be here around the same time as my truck.

I've been working with my local dealer as I was told some dealerships won't even reserve a vehicle for you if you're not "local". At least that's the case with my dealer. That being said, the salesman I'm working with didn't really try to steer me in any other direction. The only "suggestion" they made was to include the LED headlight package as they did not see any '23 TRD OR's scheduled for production without it. I put down a fully refundable $500 deposit to hold my spot in line. No market adjustments. Only looking at $200-$300 in dealer fees. Still waiting on an allocation.... About two days ago, I did see two trucks shown as "In Transit" to another dealer within 2 hours of my location that hadn't yet been reserved. Exact same specs as what I'm looking for, but in Magnetic Gray. Was thinking about calling to reserve one but elected to wait for either Lunar Rock or Celestial Silver. Honestly don't mind waiting a little longer as it'll give me time to build up my savings. Hopefully my patience pays off.

Sounds like you got a good dealer to work with. I haven’t had any luck with the 4 or 5 dealers in my area. They are just not to interested in helping me. And they are adding $2500 market adjustment to the MSRP. Maybe it’s the individual salesman I’m working with are just not interested. IDK. I may need to expand my search outside my area. I’m in Atlanta area.

Put in a allocation reserve request yesterday on a TRD OR. Dealer said it may be February. Crossing my fingers for sooner. But at least I got a dealer willing to help.

Curious to hear from anyone who has recently purchased a '23 Tacoma TRD OR DC(LB or SB). Wait time from initial deposit to notification from dealership that allocation was received? Wait time from notice of allocation to actually receiving the truck? I made my initial deposit 2 months ago and am waiting to receive word that my dealer has received their allocation. Fingers crossed that I hear something soon!
