I got the Pormido cam. I don’t like it very much. Camera sucks at night but I wanted a rear cam along with the front cam.

I think I should’ve done with the garmin mini.

Buy a dongar adapter for your rear view mirror and pick up the Garmin Mini 2. It will run your around $130-150. It tucks nicely behind the rear view mirror and is hardly noticeable from the outside.

    Oh look, another mod....
Get the Gamin Mini. If you have the upgraded rear view mirror (with the homelink buttons in it), then you can plug the dash cam directly into it. So it has a neat/clean appearance:

I have Blackvue 1080P Wi-Fi (older model) cameras in 3 cars. I’ve had them for about 3 years and they have been very reliable. My wife’s paid for itself (and more) last year.

Do you feel like that hangs down to low? I just don't want anything blocking my peripheral vision

It doesn't hang too low. It sits neatly behind my rear view, I can barely see it at all. There is room to move it up or over a bit, so it's 100% hidden from my field of view.

Most of the time that I'm driving, I forget it's there, because I cannot see it.

Another Garmin Mini owner. It completely hides out of view for me when I'm seated behind the wheel. My only gripes are license plates are tough to read unless you're stopped behind a vehicle and downloading videos via the app takes some time.

Is there any kind of option out there to have a roof mounted system providing a 360 degree view?

I got the garmin mini 2 with the adapter thingy that lets me power it via the rear view mirror. Its worked great so far, and it bleeps everytime I turn the truck on so I know its working. Only downside is when I leave the truck outside for ages it can freeze, but I'm in Canada so thats just the way it be, it does thaw out and turn on eventually.

I have a thinkware 770. Has worked without issues. Has some features I don’t use like lane departure warning, etc. Has a camera for the front and rear.

Other than catching a hilarious accident while I was parked and another of my accidentally running over some cones and then accidentally honking at some construction workers right after (my wife loves this one) I haven’t caught anything great or saved on an accident.

I had a Blackvue 750 dual camera on another car. It had bluetooth for phone playback, but quality wasn't great.

I have a Viofo A119 in the Taco, good qaulity camera, LCD screen for live view, must remove the SD card to view stored footage.

The 4Runner has the Viofo A129 duo. Good camera, LCD for live view, bluetooth for phone playback.

I have the Garmin Mini 2 with the plug in adapter to the mirror. Very nice. I positioned it to where I can’t it see while driving. I forget it’s there but like knowing it’s there if something happens. It’s always on the job.

There are better cameras coming on the market that are very crisp and clear. Check those out too.

I have an Apeman 1440/1080 front/rear. No complaints. My front camera is mounted in front of the rear view mirror. Totally out of sight from my perspective.

I have 4 Viofo cameras in different cars right now. The Taco has a A129 Pro non-duo. Other three are A119 V3s. I use a Dongar adapter as others have suggested. I strongly recommend against powering a dual cam from the rear view mirror as you will be pushing the amperage rating and definitely don’t want to be popping fuses.
