Cruise control light comes on but the cruise won't set. Figured it might be the clock spring, but the Cruise light comes on every time. Brake lights work as they should.

    Any ideas?

You check the clutch cancel switch?

I always use the clutch cancel switch to turn the truck on and have never had a problem. The switch at the clutch pedal that allows the truck to turn on hasn't worked in years.

You looked at the one on the clutch pedal itself…the button may have came out

I'll have a look. However, if the button isn't there, wouldn't the Clutch Cancel Switch button on the dash delete that problem?

The clutch switch for the cruise is a separate switch located toward the top of the pedal, it is depressed when the clutch pedal is released.

If you can turn your cruise light on and off normally with the switch your clockspring is more than likely fine, all the signals from the switch go through the same 2 wires. I'd suspect a clutch or brake cancel switch problem or a cruise switch problem.

It would be easy to see what the switches are doing with a scanner than can read cruise data but thats beyond what most generic scanners will do.

I think you figured it out. The white button is still there but its going through a hole in the pedal assembly instead of being pressed. Whatever was in that hole is gone.

That would do it, I've used those plastic pushpins to fix those in the past you just have to find one that is the right size.

Yup, I had some push pins that fit, and it worked. Thanks, guys.

Here are some key words for those plastic pins:
