    2022 Tacoma non-JBL

    Speakers:
Morel Maximo Ultra Coax 692 MKII (on the way)
Suburu tweeters when first starting out (installed)

    Amp:
Kicker key 200.4 (mainly due to auto DSP, hidden in dash, and I don't need it super loud) (not ordered yet)

    Sub:
Not sure yet, maybe a hideway in the future.

    Questions:
    1. Is this cheap Amazon Red Wolf harness ALL I need to connect the amp to stock HU without cutting any factory wires? I just splice it with the cables that come with the amp? I've been trying to look for a clean picture with this specific cheap amazon harness spliced up. (I will also get a separate amp kit, etc)

    2. Is bi-amp mode recommended in this set up? I know they're not components. This is this synonmous with "active" setup...right?

    3. Is Kicker Keyloc recommended for this setup? Or should the key amp auto tune be enough?

    4. Are there better paths to go? I just bought the tweeters over a month ago and would like to keep them if possible.

    TIA

Update: did kicker key amp with red wolf cable as shown, soldered, heat shrank, and Tessa taped it. Gonna go the non bi-amp route for simplicity. Routed power cable to battery thru big grommet on the low left of dash. Grounded to screw by fuse area shown in red circle.

Powered it on and does not work :(

Will try to get a hold of a multimeter tomorrow since it got too dark. Anyone got tips on troubleshooting? Do I need to keep the power cable plugged into the battery? I bought the 12 gauge fuse kit from Crutchfield and have 30a fuse installed. @destin_meeks

I hope this works and was worth the effort because the morels sound pretty bad without an amp haha. TIA

    Hmmm Followed this post.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At least the connections were simple. On the male side of the connector (plugs into the headunit) -- it was a direct one-to-one match for the input side of the amp

the connector that plugs into this side uses the same color codes as the tacotoonz plug. cut off the RCA connectors on the kicker input wires and simply match the colors up.

On the output side of the kicker key, again match up the speaker color wires to the female side of the tacotoonz connector.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
where Tacotoonz connector = red wolf cable

Or do I just not know what the input and output of the amp is? *facepalm*

So “input” on the amp is where the signal is coming FROM. In this case, we’re getting the signal from the radio, so I need the piece that plugs into the radio going to the amps input.
“Output” is where the sound is going, so in this case it’s the factory speaker wiring.

this can be a bit confusing if you are just matching words because the amp is getting it’s audio signal from the radio “output” but the radio is sending that signal to the amps “input”

the connector circled in green is the male side, that plugs into the radio. We need that audio signal going to the Key’s input side

so that one red wolf adapter gave you all front and back speakers to send to the amp and then out of the amp to all 4 front and back speakers(i know the tweeters piggy back on the front door speakers)??......Ive got a 2022 access cab MT.....haven't pulled the factory HU yet but going to do something similar .....got an audiocontrol d4.800 under drivers seat, im sending via speed cable and female wolf connector from the HU speakers lines to ....leveling out the audio and then sending them back to the factory speaker plug via speed cable with male end of wolf connector....
ive seen some diagrams thats very complicated and looks like the factory HU has at least two plugs on the back that has speaker outs on....and then yours only has one.......im soooo confused...did Toyota change the pinout of the HU in the 21 and up models.???

i pulled out my HU and figured out the speaker connections....next what did you tie to to get switched power so your amp would turn on when you turned on your ignition??....or does the auto sens that detects your HU sending voltage to the speakers, on the amp work with your Taco??

That audio control amp can use the GTO circuit. No need for a wire

I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THIS SAME SET UP HAVE THE RED WOLF HARNESS AS WELL. I AM ALSO RUNNING THE KEY 500.1 THE REAR SPEAKERS HAVE REALLY NO BASE OUTPUT FROM HU. I AM BI AMPING THE 200.4 and running rear doors off factory HU. with these amps have DSP would I need to pull input signal from front 6x9s?

Yes, you need to pull the signal for your 500.1 from the front channels on the INPUT side of the 200.4. NOT the output side

Thank you bud. As I look at the bi- amp option VIA Kicker. I am running tweeters off amp1 (whites/grays) 6x9 off (amp 2) and splitting the signal 6x9 from HU to provide input for the 500.1.
Sorry for the questions the wiring hook up is the what I have been dreading.

In bi-amp mode, the amp ONLY takes the signal from the front (white/grey) input wires coming from the radio. These are the wires you also want to get your 500.1 signal from

it then takes the front channel audio and splits it into tweeter and woofer signals on the output side

@destin_meeks thank you for the input bud. This has been so confusing to me. I am going to try and lay it out on paper before diving into it. Already ran two runs of speed wire to dash, all power and ground. Building amp rack this weekend. thanks again for the input. I am sure I will probably have more questions.

Here’s what I got as input from HU. The amp output side I think I have figured out it was the input that worried me.Thank you for all you advice you have provided to everyone

Tacking on to this with a slightly different question.... 22 TRD OR non jbl. Would this harness work to simply add a mono block amp for a sub? Or is there a better way of going about that to get the signal to the amp?
