My key fob has been having issues, it doesn't work unless I really press down hard on the any button, even then I need to press it multiple times. I've tried two new batteries with no difference.

Spare fob (which hasn't really been used over the years) still works perfect.

    Anyone have a similar experience?

Have you taken the remote apart and inspected the board carefully for cracked solder joints?
I've read where several people fixed theirs by reflowing some solder joints on the battery contacts.

I have the same fob... well, the OEM is at the bottom of a lake but that's another story.
Replacement was $130 from a local local locksmith.

But have had same issues on other remotes. As listed above, take it apart and look for damage including how the internals are seated. Make sure something did not get compressed.

I have a brand new issue with my key fobs that look just like yours. Each one unlocks the door, but neither one will lock the doors. Probably an entirely different issue than yours. I am looking into it as it just started today. If i figure it out, I will post accordingly, in the event it might possibly help with your issue.

Look up a tutorial on how to reprogram your remote to your vehicle, I tried and didn’t help my situation but may help yours.

No apparent cold joints or burns on the board. Although I haven’t broken out the magnifying glass yet lol

The fob has been living in your jeans pocket for over 10 years. Try simple first. Take it apart and clean the contact points on the buttons and the circuit board.

I was just checking because if the truck thinks a key is inserted it won't allow the doors to be locked.

Ok. Had time to check it out today. It was pretty obvious when I saw the rubber seal of the access cab rear door bulging out of the door frame . Must have frozen and stuck. Reinstalled, and viola, the key fob allowed me to lock it :). I wish all fixes were that easy.
Although this will probably not help lightlytoasted much, it may help someone else searching "fob" threads. Interestingly, the door ajar symbol wasn't on. Maybe only works when one of the 2 front doors are not closed properly. Lightlytoasted, I hope you find your solution.
