Have (2) 4x4 sections glued/screwed side by side in the bed just in case I get a flat. No need to carry around a custom jack unless you are seriously off-roading.

Thanks to all. I'll throw a couple of pieces of 2x6x6 in one of the cubbies.

I carry an air inflator and a tire plug kit as my first defense. Lifting the truck and spinning lugs roadside is my absolute last no-other-option resort. The stock jack should work for that purpose, I just don't wanna.

I'd much rather make it the tire shop's problem.

I have 38’s and the stock jack works fine for changing a tire. Anything else you need a real jack, which you should be using for stock trucks as well.

Good idea. I do that with my Vette cause it has no spare. Will consider it for the Taco.

Unless they have 60" tires or something, the distance from the axle or lower control arm shouldn't change.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Thats what i have. It also provides a solid base on trails.

 Comes in handy for more than emergencies. It makes it easy to change pressures on the fly for things like weather or transitioning from dirt to pavement on a camping trip.

Order coffee, air tires, take a selfie, put the inflator away, pick up coffee, hit the road. :cookiemonster::cookiemonster:

Jacking from the LCA is sketchy when stock, a lot more risky when lifted, because the LCA will be at an angle. For changing a front tire, it's better to jack from the transmission crossmember, with a piece of 2x6 to avoid bending the thin metal.

The reason I separated front and rear is the jack points at the front are at the frame not at the end of lower control arm. So yes, if you jack from frame or where the LCA meets the frame, a lift will affect that height. If you jack from wheel side of LCA then only tire the diameter will effect that height. Rear is only effected by tire diameter as you jack from axle.

That’s not true. The height at which the front wheels leave the ground is the same regardless of lift unless your shocks have a longer extended length. This is assuming we are not talking about a top hat spacer or drop bracket.

Good point, I was thinking of the ground height to position the jack, that’s higher after lift. But as you stated the point at which the wheel leaves the ground is identical before and after lift, as you are only changing the point at which the wheel sits within the same travel with a lift. I had not considered the point at which the wheel actually leaves the ground making the wheel change possible. Thanks for correction.
