Yes dual shield, but I believe Esab coined that term so I say gas shielded flux because if you look up dual shield you may net less results.

Good to hear, I don't plan on making anything big at all.

Who is using the free, hobbyist version of F360?

I'm on the paid version, but want to move to the free version.

Any drawbacks from using the free version?

It seems online "claberation" is touted as the main advantage of using the $359/yr version.

    Piggybacking to hear a response.

Would've downloaded and played with Fusion already if I wasn't knee deep in homework.

Figure I've got awhile before my stuff comes in anyway :playball:

I use the free version. I've never tried the paid version so I don't have much to compare it to. But I've been able to design the parts I make on it without any issues.

Same opinion. For anything 2D cnc plasma cut parts, you can pretty much design whatever you want

In my experience they do a good job of telling you what you’re missing on the free version so if you don’t see that message I would not worry about missing out!

In all my years I never thought I would see the days a bunch of welders were nerding out over computer programs.

    Bwahaha!

    It's more about saving money.

My main problem is my conscious.

The program is free if you use it, but do not earn more than $1000 dollars. (I think that's the number).

Most years I dont reach that number and last year I made around $1400 selling stuff to people. Many items were sold to members of this site (thank you for supporting my art BTW).

This year may different. The shop is closed for 3 months while I'm south for the winter. I don't see myself selling as many CNC plasma cut items. In addition, I don't like paying that $30/ month when I'm not even using it.

The free version looks to fit the bill for my, but I had only used the paid version, I was not sure.

I don’t think you should feel guilty. Autodesk loses that much money between couch cushions every month so…

2lb spool of gas shielded flux; will post back when I put it to use.

It'll be for the extra welder.

    Looking forward to the test.

Better to see how it runs before you really need to make it work.

BTW: If you "Anything Welding" thread purist want to give plasma cutters the boot, don't be bashful. I considered starting an "Anything Plasma Cutting" thread but hadn't acted on it.

Had some time today and designed another sign for a friend. A few weeks ago, I made a Pittsburgh Steelers sign for a guy. His wife said "uh uh, aint goin on the wall unless I get a Patriots sign". So, he asked me to make her one. They've agreed that whichever team finishes season with best record, sign goes above the other team for one year. :)

    20221101_172148[1].jpg

Haven't cut it out yet but should go okay as it's not too complicated. Both are 15" circles. Using 18 gauge. After this pic I did add a horizontal anchor in front of the star by the mascot face in order to strengthen that center section.

All part of welding to me!

Then what next no grinders . No prints of anything to make . Maybe no mention of any prep work or fabrication
