Are you 100% sure it has the right bulb in the left side?

Somebody’s gonna have to chime in with a wiring schematic and get a voltmeter…if the bulb is ok there’s a problem somewhere

What did you use to tap the brake light wire? One of those fold over taps? If so is it possible the tap cut the wire in two? ie: the tap was to small for the wire size & cut the wire?

Again you should return your work to oem and use the proper plug & play harness linked above.

In the future ask around here before cutting into your wiring harness as chances are any mod you can think of have already been discussed and a solution found. Good luck.

I spliced and soldered the wires together with heat shrink. Going to see about finding a 7443R bulb in town today and see if it makes any difference. Also going to buy the plug and play harness

Come to find out, I got into my truck last night to run some errands, and sure enough, with all the wiring from my camper shell torn out, my lower portion of my tailight where my brake light s, is illuminated when the brakes are not pressed. But when I press the brakes, the brake light does not illuminate at all. I have attached a picture for further explanation.

When my headlights are ON, both top and bottom lights are illuminated. When brakes are pressed, the bottom half thats outlined in black (labelled BRAKE) gets brighter, as it should being the BRAKE light.

When I press my brakes and my headlights are on, the bottom portion that is illuminated does not get brighter, but goes out completely. When brakes are released the bottom portion coms back on as if my headlights were being turned on. I have changed bulbs, and no change in the issue.

Does the right side work correctly? If so use it as a diagram to return the left side wiring to stock. Remove & redo any/all splices & make sure nothing is shorted to ground.

If all else fails bring it to mechanic for repairs.
