You need to hop in your time machine and go back to the mid-late 1960's.

It’ll be interesting how 4 engine options play out in terms of sales.

Dealers still have allocations obviously but we will still be able to see if there is any skewed demand one way or another.

Ah yes, but that would be before CAFE and EPA took control of all our lives. IDK if we can live without them, for sure the economy would collapse

With how high prices and inflation are, maybe the models with carryover engines will have a lower price.

TW should start a 4th Gen 24MY sub forum.

The mule proportions, grille and headlights don’t look like that to me. But camouflage is tricky.
Maybe @Carmaker1 one can help without violating any confidentiality.

I don't think engines are like perishable food items where the store would reduce the price just before the sell date.

I was thinking along the lines of development and supply costs, since they have been in production for a long time.

It would be a mistake to discontinue the "Tacoma" name. Even if they completely change the drivetrain, calling it a Tacoma will keep name recognition high and demand more clout.

If Toyota keeps the old 2.7 and 3.5 in the Tacoma it might be for the Mexican market and other countries that don't have the emissions BS and still need these to be fixed by simpler mechanics. I doubt there's a lot of mechanics in Bolivia that are up to date on the latest hybrid tech.

I am too lazy tonight to research exact numbers, but I believe that Tacoma outsold Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon more than 2 to 1 during 2021. The GM twins had 3 engine options. Perhaps with continuing global supply chain constraints, Toyota is unable to build enough 2.4L turbo engines to fulfill all the added / expected Tacoma demand during 2024? They are therefore “forced” to build some 3.5L V6 and/or 2.7L 4 cyl. engines to keep-up with Tacoma sales?

I don't think you even know the source of my information, to even reliably comment on that at all. It's very easy for anyone to look at the new Tundra, try and lazily apply the same logic to the smaller Tacoma, with no proof of any sort as to that being true. I know, because I expected such, but knew better than to state it as fact, unless fully confirmed.

Hybrid Max is definitely the top engine, but it is not the only offering. I stand by that, while the rest of you critics are just speculating. I give credit to those who mentioned the 2.4T years ago on this forum in an OVtune thread, likely based on a good hunch. It's very easy to copy what's out there, than be your own original source online.

I think I've had enough of this drivel, as I have more important things to do with my time, than entertain trolling.

I want to post those new spy shots, but I don't want to piss off Tacoma 4G. I'm not sure if that's just a slightly less covered up mule vs the real 920B testing. We really, should be coming up on spy shots of the real thing by now. They've built since November, so what gives? These do not look any different than the existing mules, which date back to the summer of 2021 (first built). Toyota is withholding them, as most OEMs do.

Spy shots are not what they used to be in the 80s and 90s. They are marketing more than anything, except when photographed by members of the public who aren't media. The first spy shots were actually from an amateur observer, but Toyota wanted them to be seen, so everyone knows on the low they're redesigning their truck ASAP. I find Toyota to be notorious for relying on mules to test everything outside of proving grounds, until the very 11th hour, when on purpose they shift to public rounds of the final design and let every single photographer know about it.

Job 1 is less than 1 year away, yet we still haven't seen them testing in final form. This isn't unusual however.

Well we don't know who you are and you seem to be the forum's best source. But because there is no proof of anything until Toyota reveals the next gen midsize truck, there is just speculation and wishful thinking and lazy logic. You sound legit but you have to realize some may not believe a word you type. But I believe you. I'm just trying to give both perspectives I hope you understand.

That's what gets me. A lot of sites post up 'accidental' reveals the MFG makes on their website etc. Those are not 'accidents'.

That is true, but there's a way to get that across without being insulting. I have a track record, that I try to maintain and I generally won't log in, if there's nothing new to report or if I am too busy (I was for many months).

They are not accidents indeed. You'll notice when they are of course. TFL leaking our 2021 Bronco, was definitely the exception and they were dealt with rightfully. Punitive action is usually what tells you if a leak is not manipulated.

Well, I for one will be sorry to see the rear drum brakes finally go since there’s really nothing wrong with them.

I also would like to see a ltd anniversary edition every 10 yrs, like the 4R 40th anniversary and a new retro or classic remake edition every 20 yrs of the 1st gen.
