I did the same thing and honestly it wasn't that bad. The aluminum street signs bend fairly easily. I started my bends by hand and then used a rubber mallet to get a crisper bend.

 

I have an aluminum shelf from an equipment rack, I’ll have to give it a try.

 

It's not bad at all. I use a large dead blow hammer.

 

@Nazupag524 - where did you get the street sign? I was trying like hell to get one for a project on my truck but came up snake-eyes every place I looked.

Cheap aluminum baking pans also work(real ones, not the disposable kind). And you can preserve the ends/corners to maintain a gusseted ell.

 

I’m a lineman so whenever we replace a pole I take one. If you’re local Colorado I’d give you one. I’ve got plenty.

 

The complex I was living in at the time was replacing some signs so I grabbed one out of the trash. I think you can buy blanks online for a reasonable price.

 

I didn't have the right vice either until I went and bought one. 1/8" aluminum sheet and bent by hand with the vice. That thickness is about all I can do without cutting relief cuts where I want it to bend.

So for the low voltage cut off device you have here. Will the ground (negative) on the love voltage cut off device serve as the ground for all the devices i have being powered through the fuse box?

I guess my question is what is the best way to ground all of the relays in the true mod fuse box?

 

I used the factory ground point by the battery. It’s less than two feet away.

All powers run to ground...

So, fuses that go to ground end up being tested fuses (burnt, popped, dead...)

Each fuse POWERS a load (positive wire to the light/air compressor/seat vibrator/whatever) and the load is grounded on the other side (the negative wire on the light/air compressor/seat vibrator/whatever)

 

Fuses don't power loads they protect loads.

If I understand, your question and the OP it looks like since the fusebox used does not have a grounding bus (or a ground in general) they plan to ground whatever lights/accessories they power on the vehicle frame where it is convenient instead of running a ground all of the way back to the box.

 

well, yes, fuses indeed protect loads. Fully correct, and I should have worded my reply that way.

Each fuse protects the load it supplies power to from the fuse block.

As for grounding individually or grouped, that’s all situational/preference. Im not going to run a ground all the way across the vehicle to a common/main ground when there are better options. Makes no sense, causes more work, and costs more.

 

Except in cases of high individual loads with dedicated circuits I prefer to place ground busses strategically with one in the engine bay with my 80A Bussman panel, one in the cab with an 8-way fuse panel, and another in the bed with yet another fuse panel. This gives me the benefit of reliable grounding for all accessories, shortens wire runs, and reduces the number of wires into and out of the cab. Set ups and priorities vary, model your set up according to what suits you best.

 

Hey, I just sent you message through Etsy when you have a moment. I need to order another circuit breaker mount if possible please. I managed to accidentally snap the circuit breaker mount tab off while trying to pull the assembly away from the master cylinder/brake lines. It appears to be rubbing, but I noticed a buyer on Etsy used a piece of rubber hose zipped tied over the line. Thanks!
