1/2 aussie, 1/2 bernese that my parents adopted from us

 

Here's my old dog. She's 15 now and has stage 4 lymphoma. She has been by my side all 15 years as I got her at the pound when she was six weeks old. Doc is giving her meds so no pain but at the first sign of real discomfort I will have her put down. She is losing weight so it won't be long but right now, she is still okay. The thing is, when you get a dog you know the lifespan and if you are my age and have had to put down three previous dogs, you also know the pain that goes with it. However, you do it anyway lol.

Poll response: While I have certainly done many stupid things, I've never really almost died. Got lost navigating while flying an airplane. Been electrocuted so many times I can't count. Grew up at the racetrack. So many opportunities, but few moments of sheer panic.

sorry man it’s tough to have a member of the family go. At some point it’s just best for them maybe not so much for us.
We should just feel lucky they enriched our time.
I’m gonna be sad and prolly cry when my buddy’s time comes. He is 7 so not a pup but he is so good. He is a boxer husky they call them boxskis. I don’t care about what he is he is just a good boy!

Never an easy thing to do.
The last one we had to put down she would still get excited about a car ride but crippled up and breathing problems. It was nice the vet actually come to the house to do the deed. Not nice but she lay comfortably in my lap and say goodbye.

It sucks. We miss our last 2 cats all the time. Feline diabetes took both of them.

 

….and for the pooch there is no finer place to pass. See, the way I look at ‘er is people, places & things are placed along the journey just to see what you do with ‘em. Showing Love ‘n compassion was built right in to the dog. Hopefully some rubs off on me.
