Crap that's high. I'm worried about getting a roof rack and Yakima kayak mounts for it and still being able to park in my garage.

Where did you order yours from? I was about to order some. Thinking of painting the bolts also

Ordered from TC(total chaos)directly, might be easier to hit up ACE hardware for black bolts if you want to black out the mounting points.

Look is great, but I wouldn't want to have the gas mileage that comes with 37's.

Just be aware of what the black finish is… black oxide bolts are not corrosion resistant. This was a mistake that a colleague of mine made for exterior hardware a couple months ago.

Fortunately, it was caught before final installation. Unfortunately I had 1000 - 3/8” x 1” bolts that went to the steel recycler.

The straw does help to get the material into the cavities. I bought one of the spray can trigger grips before I event started the application. It sprays exactly like spray paint...after I got the cavities coated to my satisfaction, I gave up on the straws and just applied the material like spray paint.

I like chemical guys butter wet wax. Also griots spray on detail works as a good clay lube. The ceramic stuff smells like ass compared to non-ceramic.

Absolutely! My go to for that would be McMaster-Carr, they’ll have just about every fastener you’ll ever need with no minimum purchase quantity.

    * If you go stainless, make sure to use anti-seize on your fasteners.

That is new information for me and good to know....and could explain why the fancy license plate screws (unfortunately not bolts :( ) the auto broker gave us on the RAV4 are now a permanent part of the car. For bike parts I use a tiny bit of grease but I suppose for an auto it's different (depending on the importance of the part staying attached?).
Now, do I leave those screws in the RAV4 until we sell it 10 years from now, or figure out how to remove them? It will probably depend on how motivated I get.

The seizing or galling shouldn’t happen between dissimilar metals, but stranger things have happened. Also making sure the threads are free of burrs, sand, or other debris is a good rule of thumb. We went through a couple containers of anti-seize on the bridge that I just built in Michigan. And yes that’s exactly why a dab of grease on bike fasteners.

I will caution you anti-seize magically ends up on everything. In fact the most dangerous part of anti-seize is to get it on your clothes and sit down on the wife or girlfriends white couch. :anonymous:

None to speak of, just enjoying it for the moment.
Sound distinctly like someone speaking from experience, and a rather embarrassing one! Note to self NEVER buy a white couch, ever...

When I’m done working in the garage now I go through a DeCon process that makes hazmat clean up look like taking a quick shower.
