Hello ladies and Gents . I’m Steph just introducing myself . Located in San Diego, California. I’ve got a beautiful 01 Toyota Tacoma pre runner 4 cylinder. Just was given to me by a good friend . Grandpa passed it down to grandson . Then he gave it to me . He’s graduated to a 21 Toyota Tacoma TRD pro 6 cylinder. I need some help with what to do about the squeaking coming from front suspension. He mentioned struts needed replacing . I have been reading so much I’m lost and need help on what to replace and what parts . I read it’s dangerous to be driving it and that’s all I’ve been doing is driving . Do t have a choice . Any input would be appreciated:) thanks

Welcome! Post up a new thread on the suspension issues in the suspension or 1st Gen forums, and include pictures of the current situation. You could also have someone take a video while you drive to record the squeaking, post it on you tube, and link in the thread.

Have a mechanic check upper and lower control arm bushings.
    (UCAs and LCAs.)
    and Sway bar bushings.
    For wear, cracking or missing.
Or find pix and do it yourself.
If you spray Fluid Film on the bushings it may quiet the squeaks.
Lower ball joints fail on these so replace them with GENUINE TOYOTA PARTS ONLY for safe driving.

The shocks may need replacing, but Tacomas don't have struts.

Bad lower ball joints really make a mess if they break when the vehicle is at speed. That's the first bit to have examined.

You'll be walking if those LBJs break. Assuming you don't have a serious accident.

Internet diagnosis is difficult with things like this. But it's always good to give us the mileage on the vehicle and any known service history.

In the regional forum for where you live you can post for shop recommendations or even member 'tech days' where some skilled folks would be willing to check out your truck and help you out.

    Welcome
