I recently bought a 2012 tacoma that came from New jersey.what would cause the engine block to be corroded? What can I do about it? Could it be caused by something they put on the roads for deicer?

Pics would help. It is likely surface rust you can wire off.

What ever is causing it, is likely a chemical reaction. The block is aluminum.

I do t see where you live. But some place use a nasty mix on the road in the winter.

I might know a guy that ruined the polished finish on his aluminum wheels cleaning them with simple green. :anonymous:
