Don’t need to sell the Ford, look into walnut blasting. I’ve had it done on an N54 a few years ago. Made a big difference. That one had a catch can, but still gunked up the intake valves. And I just did it myself on our newish Tahoe (no turbo but GSI); it’s actually pretty easy, just gotta keep rotating the engine so all the valves are closed and keep a shop vac handy to keep the mess down. No can on the Tahoe. They only delay the inevitable, some are better than others.

that said, I agree with you, zero reason to run a can on non turbo port injection motors. Not that it hurts either, just useless.

It's funny because, in nearly 10 years on TW, you are the first person to say "Don’t need to sell the Ford". I have usually received the opposite response. Mostly "you need to get rid of the Ford asap". I have owned as many Fords as Toyotas. I don't expect to get the same miles out of a Ford as I do a Toyota but I have had some exceptional Fords. You just have to know at what point, or mileage, to sell the Ford. Not an issue with a Toyota.

Got some cheap black headlights from marketplace. I'm satisfied for $20 and about an hour of buffing. I screwed up coating the driver side so I'll likely redo do it. Luckily the students at my school are buffing headlights next week.

Also did the one-click unlock all doors mod but didn't take pictures as I hate working in that part of the dash.

I googled it. For some reason my TW search didn't find it but Google found it on TW.

The vehicle should meet the following conditions before proceeding; *The key is NOT in the ignition *Driver’s door is OPEN (The others are CLOSED) *Drivers door UNLOCKED (Not necessary for Echo)
    1) INSERT and REMOVE the key from the ignition cylinder, TWICE within 5 seconds
    2) CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds
    3) INSERT and REMOVE the key into the ignition cylinder
    4) CLOSE and OPEN the driver’s door TWICE within 40 seconds
    5) INSERT the key in the ignition and CLOSE the driver’s door
    6) Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK at approx. 1 sec. Intervals “ 2” times to enter REWRITE MODE
    7) REMOVE the key from the ignition (The door locks are cycled LOCK-UNLOCK within 3 seconds TWICE to let you know that you have selected REWRITE MODE)
    8) Within 40 seconds press BOTH the LOCK & UNLOCK buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1 second (Press and release).
    9) Within 3 seconds press and release the LOCK button on the same transmitter (The door locks will cycle ONCE if the transmitter was recognized and TWICE if it was not recognized {if you get two cycles start over}).
    10) Within 40 seconds repeat step 8 and 9 with any other transmitters you wish to program
    11) One of the following will END the Rewrite mode; *40 seconds elapses *Drivers door is opened *Key inserted into the ignition cylinder *4 transmitters are registered

    Cheers.

edit: apparantly in step 9 if you push unlock instead of lock, you can unlock all doors with one button push. anyone want to try it? I don't want my neighbors thinking I'm on acid again..

My remote start works this way. Hold starts the truck. Hold again turns off the truck. 1 click locks all doors. 2 clicks unlocks all doors. I can live with this.

A few weeks ago I went on a wheeling trip :mudding: and at one point the rear end of the truck hit a low spot, ran over a rock, and busted up the 7-pin trailer cable socket. Buying a new one from Toyota was going to be almost $300  and I'm like "Fuck that.":luvya:

So Amazon to the rescue. I found a universal socket for like $20 and spliced it onto the cable of the factory socket. The cable wasn't damaged; just the socket.

And just to make sure such a incident never happens again, I mounted the new socket in the bumper itself rather than the original bracket that hangs off the trailer hitch. No more clearance worries. :D

How is the pedal feel with the larger front calipers and the stock vacuum booster? Nice upgrade!

Curious if anybody has a trick for getting their tripod off a CV axle when rebuilding. I have always just used a hammer and screw driver and slowly worked around it, but during the 20 minutes of going round and round I started thinking that someone probably has a better method here. New axle is going in, but am rebuilding this for a spare. upload_2022-12-16_22-37-41.jpg
