It started snowing here about an hour ago, just enough to cover the grass and deck.

 

Up at 4am, drove Mrs Green to work and was at the first property by 6am.
30 minutes with the shovel
90 minutes with the snow blower
Back home
90 minutes with the blade on the tractor
Back to town to pick her up
It was a long day...

 

Getting some power surges here
Heavy snow on the lines

 

I have not replaced my generator either .

 

$4k for the portable one like I had . Or I can go Generac / propane for everything in the house around 8-10k$

 

Nothing here in the south.

 

I saw tree branches down all over today.
The snow here was cement heavy.
The power stayed on though.

 

Just got up and put wood on the fire . Still snowing. About 4-5” so far

 

We put an Onan (now Cummins Onan) in when we built the house - lasted 15 years, which is 3 to 5 years longer than the average in the northeast. Replaced it with this - awesome system.




And, good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!! I ended up plowing/shoveling twice yesterday - each time was 3" of slush/wet snow. Brutal.

Got the whole house Generac last October. Propane run, auto transfer. Think I may have said before, we had constant outages and was tired of it.
Since last October, sucker has run only 9 hours and most of that is exercising and me running it manually. Peace of mind I guess and I feel a good investment if you can do it.

Looks like the snow has ended ,around 5” of super heavy stuff. Coffee and then fire up the snow blower .

Morning Pa. Taking Mother to the dealership to pick up a car this am. Hard to communicate with her due to extreme hearing loss, that she refuses to address. Anyhow, headed to Harbor Freight afterward to get my Boy a jump pack with ac on sale as one of his Christmas gifts. Coupon for a free bucket also lol.

 

I received notice from DLC about my upcoming bill online. I compared it to the same time period last year and discovered the usage for each was almost exactly the same, yet this year's bill is about $50 more. I checked the PA Power Switch website and there is one other option besides, DLC - and it is even more costly.

My generation contract with Energy Harbor expires first of the year. Presently @ 5.6 cents per KWH. Cheapest fixed rate for 36 months is 8.78 cents per KWH. Not much of a choice.

 

Mine for DLC is 10.76 cents per kWH. They have always been known for notoriously high rates. I have the add on heat pump rate, which is actually slightly lower than the regular residential rate. Even when I searched for prices at the regular rate, there was nothing better, even though there were many more options. I should say, there was one at a better rate, with a contract of one MONTH. It was listed as an " introductory" rate. No thanks. I have seen those bait and switch deals before.

 

Ah yes, waking up on Saturday to notifications all your backups failed the night before.

Looks like the power failure corrupted the volume on our NAS. Ask myself if it's worth the trouble rebuilding the volume.. It's not, it's a temporary backup target till everything gets shipped off to glacier/B2. Nuke it and rebuild. Back to backing up.
