Not even for science? Come on somebody’s gonna be a guinea pig I was…
But I’m still on the stock OEM clutch with 34k miles but I’m lighter in weight.
Oh and a LOT less HP…

Either sweat or freeze take your pick! :boink:

Lol I have had my fix of wrenching the past few days so I am gonna hold off on giving it the beans for now. I just want to enjoy it some and not throw more time and money at it for a couple months.

Sweat please lol. I can’t take the cold and the wind that inevitably comes with it

Just got back from the initial test drive and it gets around just fine with the 4.10s, even with the larger tires. I got the speedometer dialed back in with the Hypertech calibrator so that is back on the money again too. The truck turns right at 2500rpms in 5th at 75mph now. I can tell I will be doing the 4-5 dance more often now, but it will be awesome to be able to cruise 80-85 again if I want

The pinion seal was leaking on the old 5.29s so it was a good time to swap

Well the truck got 7-8lbs this morning at 35*F and the clutch held just fine, so I’d call the stiffer pressure plate a success. We will see how it does in the long term

    Congrats…

Well may I ask what has been Maximum Boost you have seen?

I absolutely love manual transmissions but connecting them to an engine with more HP than stock can be a nightmare‼️ That’s the problem I’m having myself right now w/ the swap I’m trying to piece together. :frusty:

This clutch stuff has been a real nightmare unless you want to spend more on a clutch & flywheel then you have in the transmission or the power plant. Now I see why so many are going to autos. But I really enjoy driving not just riding in my vehicles if that makes sense.

on this clutch disc 7-8lbs has been all I’ve given it. On the old discs, when I would I get on the throttle quick, it would regularly spike to 10-11lbs before the wastegate caught up and opened.

yeah as soon as you start adding power the clutch situation can turn into a pain in the ass but I’m like you, I definitely prefer the feedback of a manual trans. My recommendation would be to go with just enough clutch for the power you want to make. That’ll hopefully keep it on the more driver friendly side of things.

Be awesome to one day see what kind of power that boost level makes, with your setup.

I need to get it on the dyno, but i think ive got a few things to iron out before i feel like it would be ready. The motor mounts need to be addressed i believe. 308k on the stock ones and the downpipe is still hitting the ac lines when you get on the gas in first gear so i'm pretty sure it's flopping around in there. As much as i bashed the downpipe, i feel like i should have enough clearance..

There was a guy on here working on some poly bushing motor mounts for the 2tr, but he hasn't updated the thread in a few months. Also dyno's are known for being clutch killers, you'd definitely find out if it'll hold doing that.

Yeah im not really expecting anything to come of that thread unfortunately. Sure would be cool if Bonzen would make some off road mounts for our engine. Seems like all the other platforms are supported except for the 2TR as usual :(

Oh dear well i guess that'll be a good torture test so to speak.

Some 4th gear test pulls will give you an idea really quickly.

Did some 3rd/4th gear pulls on the way home today. Hit 11lbs in 3rd confirmed on my AEM gauge, and also bc MAPECU3 started pulling ignition (boost ignition cutoff is at 11lbs). No slip at all so things are looking good!
