I ran 18 psi for 30 miles @ 50-ish mph when I as in Moab. 80º (+-) Actually, I aired down to 18 the first day and didn't air up 'til we came home. I'd go with 25 psi on the interstate. But keep it under 65 mph (like you're gonna do 65+ in the snow,)

I've always left mine at 35psi, the last thing you want is to go into a slide with a soft tire that's liable to pop the bead, a hard skinny tire will cut thru the snow, a soft wide tire will want to float on top.

Sounds like it will be perfect conditions on Thurs. and Friday to do a "psi in the snow" test. I hadn't thought about poppin' a bead.

Great comments on the side discussion of “airing down for the interstate” lol. Good point on rolling over a bead.

I’m thinking of airing down only if it turns out to be a legit snowstorm. The kind where the snowplows havent touched the interstate yet. You know, only when it’s “inadvisable” to travel.

It’s probably gonna end up no fun with just slushy snow spittle all weekend.

people always worry about popping a bead anytime you run less than the recommended pressure.. but you either need to be very low, or some extreme side pressure. it doesn't just fall off.

I've run 10 psi on my tundra.. without beadlocks.. and that gets people all riled up

I ran 12 on the 295's a few times this year and no issues. I've heard of people going as low as 7 on non-beadlocks.

Somewhere around 15 is where I would feel comfortable for highway driving. But, if I were on stock size tires, I might keep it around 20 or more.

It definitely makes sense to keep it a bit higher for highway use. But, I think it's okay to drop some pressure, as long as you're not going to be driving aggressively.

The Trip is a week after Easter this year. Put it on the calendar and tell her you're busy. ;)

Or, better yet ask her if she wants to come along.

So that'd be April 14-16 correct? I've been wanting to get the site reservation done.

I’m adding April 14-15 to my calendar.
    (Fri-Sat nights)

I can’t wait for Trans Wisconsin Trail and Wyasuling state park again!
The camp sites were amazing and the giant shelter with double fireplaces in the rain storm was pure luck!

Sorry I couldn't make it out this past weekend! Sounds like it was a great time as usual.

Hope everyone enjoys time off coming up.

Yes. It looks like somebody already reserved the electric site over there, so I'm going to move down to site 152.

I also figured it would be convenient to be closer to the shelter.

    Sweet!

Ahhh, I was eyeballing 152 earlier for the same reason. So I'm your neighbor on 150.

I was surprised to see things already reserved. But, I suppose I really shouldn't be. Such a great spot!!

What are you reserving sites for already? Where is this place? Sounds like after Easter-so right after Moab for me? Not sure I can make it... But any chance to play with this crew is a fun time! I will try.

Wyalusing State Park, it's in the southwest corner of the state. And it's almost 2 weeks after getting back from Moab.

So, I saw a thing somebody posted showing projected snow accumulation 12/18-12/25. Ashland is supposed to get something like 48". Winter is coming...

Wyalusing is a campsite on a bluff overlooking the Wisconsin River right where it flows into the Mississippi. The trans Wisconsin trail runs through there. We usually run through the section from Lansing, Iowa down to Potosi and get dinner at Potosi brewery. Plus bonfires and BS

    Okay, I'm in!

    Screenshot 2022-12-20 5.51.47 PM.jpg

Hope that's in the correct area. It said Wisconsin Ridge 148. My wife has already said she's out, afraid of the cold. So I'll have room for a squatter. I'll be tent camping.
