Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I learned to wrap from the Best my Mom.

    She was quite tricky .

She would take a small gift like 3 pairs of wool socks then keep adding bigger and bigger boxes .

Every box packed with newspaper and secured with lots of tape.

    A knife was a given!

Then this was in the sixties Long before Bubble wrap She would have loved bubble wrap.

    Wrapping..

Things were lean growing up, we always carefully saved the paper to be reused...
    and reused..
    and reused.

A gift going out of the house got new paper, staying in the house got recycled.
Cleaning out the homestead after my mom lived there for over 55 years I found several drawers of well used paper some probably 40+ years old.

I hit the figurative jackpot, my in laws next door neighbor sold their house and are closing tomorrow. I went over because the he told me he had a few tree stands he didnt want anymore. I came home with a truck load. Gas powered auger, small game traps, ladder stands, climber stands, game cart, bucket full of chain, game cameras, wood airboat prop and a lincoln mig welder w gloves and a helmet. I couldn't believe he loaded me down but he said I'm downsizing and won't miss any of it.

Depression era upbringing - "pay cash and get a receipt".
My mom saved receipts, check books, literature from purchases, utility bills, bank records - decades worth of paper.

We held on to things because we didn't have much. Even today I have a nail with a bunch of old belts from cars I no longer have. In the back of my mind is "if times got tough I could use this".

It is harder throwing out other peoples things than your own, even if you don't see a value in an item that person did and you wonder why.

I actually have this problem. I'm getting better and trying to work through it, but I still hold on to paper receipts and the like. I have a couple shoe boxes full of pay stubs that are pretty much meaningless. I went paperless with those a month or so ago and am liking not having to toss that unopened envelope in the shoe box. I'd have to buy a new pair of shoes to get a new "filing cabinet"

I have 30 years of pay stubs, utility bills, tax receipts, CC statements, etc. here.

On one hand I realize that once a bill is paid, especially a CC or utility it is done with.
On the other hand I have had to go back in the records and "prove" that something was done because someone else messed up.

Digital payments are convenient for sure, however I have difficulty coming to terms with the latent instability of the systems that are used for them. If all the records are "electronically archived" or "in the cloud" or some such BS just how secure are they?

    NOPE!

Even in this drafty old not very well heated place I live in there isn't frost on the inside of anything but the freezer.

Honestly the only checks I write is for the Truck and Subaru each month, that's it. The credit union charges a $20 fee for online payments if you're not a member. Yea, I'm too cheap for that

    Reserected from the dead.
Yeah, but we called them stone boats. Used them to haul firewood. Kinda sucked. Cut, split, stack, unload and stack again.

The house was always north or 80* with the windows open in the dead of winter. So that kinda was a plus.

I'm not sure on the climbers he sure was proud of one of them, it weighed nothing. Knowing him, its the good stuff. I left license plates there. I asked about them and he just kinda brushed it off like ah lets not fool with those. He said he has over 100 plates in storage.

But I have the week off next week I may go over and help him get moved in. And when I do that, he's gonna say wow I've really got more stuff than I thought, you want any more of this stuff?
We will be sad to see them move out of the country to big city Orlando, they've been great to my inlaws.
