Agreed. Sometimes it is for a selfish reason on my part. If I leave that shopping cart near my truck then someone will surely knock it into the side of my truck and ding it.

Might need to put this in the A**hole Parking thread
And I usually return except when I've had to park on the outmost perimeter and the theft wheel locks up, but I don't leave it blocking anyone

One other thing I do is when I park and start walking in I will often offer to return someone's cart who is just finishing up loading their groceries. I figure I am heading that way anyways and it is no big deal to drop off a shopping cart at the cart corral on the way or at the shopping cart pick-up in front of the store. Random act of kindness type of thing.

I've done that too but sometimes it startles the person, especially if it's an older lady and I'm in my worn work clothes. I don't always look like a nice person, lol.

Some businesses use a strip that is buried in the ground around the perimeter of the parking lot so that when someone pushes the cart over that strip it triggers a mechanism on the cart that locks the wheels so they cannot turn. To prevent someone from stealing the shopping cart.

I would do it more often if I were dressed a bit "rough". I like to challenge peoples perceptions!

The photo challenge thread, you can't post a picture that was taken before the weeks challenge is announced. He did, he also had the only entry of the week, so he won :D

    I agree.
The problem becomes after you have so many records the task of clearing them out becomes monumental.
So many other things I would prefer to do with my day. I do chip away at it occasionally though. :bananadead:

Random act of kindness story....last night I was working our store, regular customer pumps $100 in diesel. He comes in to pay with his Sams credit card like always, it doesn't go through. He said I just used it, I tried it again. It wouldn't go through. A lady is standing near him scanning her lottery tickets and says how much is it, I got you? I said $100, she said even? I said yes. She hands me a hundred dollar bill and tells him Merry Christmas. He was taken back and gave her a hug.

Not sure why his card wouldn't work, it was something on the credit cards end.

She got what she needed and told me he seemed like a good guy.

It was nice to witness, especially for someone that didn't "need" it.

    Good morning y'all! :hattip:

Regarding the poll, I try and return them most of the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm putting the cart retrieval person out of a job, so I'll leave one in a random spot every now and then for them to collect. Plus, I've got stuff to do and the ice cream is going to melt if it doesn't get the freezer quick.

I think my regular grocery store is playing me. And I'm fine with it.

We got one of the few grocery stores left that actually have baggers.

The store hires high functioning slow adults to bag and collect carts. Because of this, I go out of my way to shop at this Kroger franchise.

With that said, a few of these people have some physical handicaps. One nice lady ( Bev) has one leg drastically shorter than the other. She has a very noticable gimp.

I pulled into the lot one day and saw her pushing a pretty long string of carts. It wasn't pretty watching that.

It shamed me when I saw this.

Now I try to gather all the carts I can and push them to the entrance. I know it's their job, but I ain't broken and it only takes a few extra seconds.
