My '98 regular cab (manufacture date '97 though) doesn't have pretensioners either. It does have the passenger airbag with the manual override.

    @0xDEADBEEF 's '00 regular cab has them.

@beez 's '04 regular cab doesn't seem to. Confusing. It's a prerunner, but that doesn't seem like a reason to omit safety equipment...

Was doing my valve cover gasket again after it started leaking AGAIN. Of course I broke a corner off one of the half-moon pieces and have to wait until tomorrow to get the replacement to finish the job. :annoyed:

That sucks. Mine have been leaking for a long time, figure at least I know what it leaks now, if I screw it up I'll have to relearn how much it leaks.

I helped a buddy do his after mine and it seems to hold up fine. I think maybe I didn't get the bolts tightened correctly and possibly tightened down too much before the FIPG was able to set a little.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

How I would do it... If it were me... It would take a bit longer than a day job.

I'd get the frame, then I would do the stuff like frame reinforcements and coil bucket reinforcement. (maybe go ahead and do @eimkeith gas tank lift) (maybe do Chevy 63 perches, at least the front ones anyway) Get at all the stuff you can't really get to, with things in the way like gas tank and the body.

@foxrcing07 and @Tour991 could give you a pretty good ideas on what the actual swap is like. They've both done it. As has @Empty_Lord I believe, and others.

yea it would. So no, not a day job imo. More like a couple weekends at least I'd imagine with people to help and the right tools.

Yeah, so I'm going to publically vent for a moment and share this with you all so you're aware of their "policy".

Fck @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc and the rest of that damned company. So my coilovers vanished without a trace, assembled incorrectly and UPS closed the investigation stating they require more product information from Wheeler's. Now Wheeler's is telling me that they will not refund my purchase unless UPS pays them. Seriously?

Let this be a lesson to anyone ordering from them, if your shit dissapears they will not help you. As far as they're concerned, once it leaves their dock it is on the carrier. No longer their problem.

I get they didn't lose them but my issue I have is with the customer service side. You'd think they would insure their shipments (which I'm sure they do). You'd think they would say "hey, not a problem, we're going to get you squared away and not make you wait a month. We've got you and want you to keep coming back". Placed the order on 11/29. FFS.

Now it's time to talk to CC company and have them step in. Out $525 and not happy at all. Last time I do business with Wheeler's, TG, LR or AP. They absolutely are not the same company they used to be before the buy out. :bananadead:

EDIT: CC company resolved it in less than 24 hours.

I called wheeler’s a couple weeks ago asking about extended front brake lines for my truck, the dude on the phone said to go contact a brake shop. So I didn’t buy anything from wheeler’s. Kinda sad.

Damn dude... sorry to hear this. That sucks.

I mean I can, somewhat understand how they have no control over the item after UPS picks it up. Not exactly what "additional information" they need from Wheeler's. What a mess.

Man, I've pretty much always had good luck with that entire family of businesses... but lately I've just been picking the items up from TG in Fresno. I hope this thing works out.

PS... screw those OMEs. You should buy my Fox coilovers.

PS PS... @turbodb I haven't forgotten about you bud. I still need to send you those pics and measurements on those SPC. This week just has been a lot more hectic than I thought it would be.

So we're currently having temps in the mid 40s to mid 50s, went for a quick drive today (not even 5 miles) and couldn't get the ATF temp above 135. I'm starting to wonder if the sensor in this donor trans is bad. I recently put in an ATF cooler so not used to the temps but 135 really seems low. Going to have to keep an eye on it. The 4Runner ATF shares the same temp sensor PN# as the Tacoma so that isn't it. Odd.

I don’t think that was enough time for the trans to fully come up to temp, especially with lower ambient temps. I would give it at least 20 minutes of driving and highway speeds before I’d expect to see it up at the 170-180 range, and maybe not even that high if you’re not putting some load on the transmission, going up hills, etc.

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
supporting the engine in the cab is the way we do frame swaps at work. chain with some creative bolting to hole the trans side up, lift cab with engine and all that attached. slide old frame out, transfer parts. slide new in. reattach

very condensed. but its not a huge deal to do the swap if you have means to lift the cab up.

i've got an 02 tundra frame swap for next week if all the parts show up.. i'll get phoots of how its done on the dealer side of things for a better idea..
