The absolute easiest one to take on and off is the Lomax. I haven't purchased one yet but have to make a choice soon when my truck comes in. A standard Lomax Urathane is at the top of my list. It's in the low $800 range which is less than the Bakflips and Undercovers.

Go for a Lomax. Super low profile, looks amazing, and you are correct it is super easy to open/close and remove if needed. Very pleased with mine.

Bull bar with lights, Wheels on stock tires, window vents.
One bolt the rest are locks released though handles, then it lifts off, I've been told it weights around eighty pounds, but I never weighted it. I can handle it by myself but it can be a challenge.

It helps to have two people when removing the cover, but doable with one person. I installed solo.

Great design, you shouldn’t be disappointed.

I had the OEM Soft tri-fold on mine. It was not what I'd call easy to remove an like most tri-folds it takes up about 1/3 of the bed. I also found the latches at the rear difficult to use. I switched to a Truxedo low-pro roll up and like it a lot better. Not only does it take up almost no space when rolled up, it requires no tools and is super easy to remove if you want it completely off the truck. I've installed a Tyger and a Gator roll up tonneau on other trucks and the Truxedo is far and away the easiest to install and will be the easiest to remove the cover from the rails if I want to. Look around on Amazon and see if you can find one that was returned. I saved a few hundred dollars by buying mine that way.

Regarding the Toyota tri-fold tonneau cover, it is heavy and unwieldy for one person to remove and install; it's doable in a pinch, but as others have mentioned, it is best to have two folks. Regarding the single bolt, I bought a 3/8 drive breaker bar and a 12mm socket from Amazon which I keep behind the rear seat so I can R&R the tonneau cover when necessary.

Were it not that my Tacoma came with the cover, I would have sprung for a Lomax or Bakflip as they seem much easier to manage for one person than the Toyota cover. Please understand, I'm not dissing the Toyota cover, it is quite rugged and looks like it'll last the life of the truck, it is just bulky and heavy.

It must only be the factory hard covers that needed the bolt removed. I dudbt have to do that with my soft tri-fold.

Yeah, as far as I know, it is only the factory Tonneau cover which has the (external) bolt. I don't mind it though, I spent a couple of bucks on Amazon and have the wrench always in the truck so I can pull the bolt on an as needed basis.

just added this UnderCover Elite to new Tacoma this month.
Went back with UnderCover because used it on 2014 for 10 years and 125k miles with 100+ taking off and putting on. NOT A DROP OF WATER.
Very easy on/off with wife but did do once by myself just to see and it worked.
