Mega timing advance = mega power gains?

Getting up to 52 degrees of timing advance. Any1 know the stock range or looked at their third gens timing advance data?

Idk whats normal because im not running 87 octane. Did one tank of 87 after running 91 whole time, and def felt diff - noticeably less power and rougher engine sounding like a rental car. Never went back to 87 and this reading is on 91+ octane.

To take full advantage of variable timing, just how far can we go with this?

What RPM? I assume that isn't initial timing because I don't think it would run. Still sounds like an awful lot.

This is why we dont have oil pressure gauges or oil temp gauges anymore, people don’t understand what to do with the data.

 

Better monitor your knock count before you start adding timing.

 

Gauge? There isn't even an Oil Temp Sensor.

i get a lot higher timing advance on 91 versus 87. it's pretty bad on 87. i try to only run 89 or 91; 91 preferably but a lot of stations only have 87,89,and 93.

just run 87 or better, and the VVTI will adjust.

There is such a thing as death by data, aka the lost-the-forest -through-the-trees syndrome.

If we want to get real wild, we could start launching into the precision, accuracy, slope, and offset of the instruments that are on board.

I like to monitor the pressure between my wipers and the windshield as well as the flow rate of windshield wiper fluid in gallons per hour. This helps me monitor wiper degradation and washer fluid expenditure. I have saved tens of dollars over the lifetime of my vehicle.

 

I switched the springs in my wiper arms to 650 lb OMEs to handle the extra insect load when overlanding. The washer nozzles are routed through my onboard 2500psi heated pressure washer. Good for windshields, camp showers, elk deterrent, and my parking lot side business.
