It got down to about 4* (about -10* WCF) here last night and went out to start my 2018 TRD Sport this morning and it started like it was 70* outside. My OEM battery is almost 5 years years old and has never been charged or even on a battery tender.

I'd bet a bottle of Buffalo Trace that my '96 Tacoma with 415,000 trouble-free miles would start too if I had a need to start it.

    These trucks are amazing !!!!!!!!

I haven't started mine yet...but I'm confident she will fire right up! (With the OEM battery)

It was 8F overnight and today is only expected to get to 20F for a high.

EDIT: Just remote started her and she didn't let me down.

Just snapped this pic...it's frigidly cold today!

My 2018 OEM battery is finally showing signs of the summertime and accessory abuse it receives. It's cranking slow, but it ain't dead yet.

I got my battery jumper in the back seat for when the day comes.

In Australia, if you want to get to the Outback you take a land rover....
if you want to get back you take a Toyota.

To be honest, Toyotas in general rarely leave you stranded.

My 2012 always starts it's on its 2nd battery the original seemed fine when I replaced it.

I'm going to start the old 20 year old Ford diesel at work when I go back on Tuesday, it's been sitting for at least a month just to see what it does. This cold snap may have done it, the battery got replaced last year or early this year.

In Texas, the outback is walking distance from my house. First, I'm surprised that there's still an outback steakhouse open, it's like sighting the last blockbuster. And second, I wonder if they still make those bloomin onions with the tangy dip?

That tangy dip is mayonaise garlic powder and paprika.

your truck can't "feel" the wind-chill factor.

And while I'm here for the self congradulitory "yay Tacomas are great " stuff, my shit box escort would start at -20f ambient just fine as well.

Back in my Navy days in the 80's, I had an orange Toyota pickup with the carbureted 22R engine. During one upstate New York winter, I had to keep it parked at the end of the driveway and the snowplows would throw snow up on it every time they plowed the street. Over the winter, the truck ended up getting buried in a solid block of snow and ice. When I went to move it one day, I had to dig out a bunch of snow just to get to the driver door and open it.

Once in, I pumped the gas pedal at least a dozen times, held my breath and turned the key. The battery barely had enough juice to to turn the engine over. It slow rolled about 4 times and just when I thought it was not going to happen, that damn 22R roared to life. I still miss that old truck!

I agree, neither of mine have ever left me stranded, pretty remarkable for the 1996 (2.7) with 415,000 trouble-free miles over my 27 years of ownership.

The 22R's are like tractor engines (hell they sound like it)! My '85 Celica had the 22R-E, and it was such a workhorse. Not fast at all, but it had some torque.

    Enough for now
four plus years on my OEM battery too!

Buffalo trace is great, I see you’re in VA, I always had a hard time finding it. In California it’s everywhere!

That truck is just badass. I wish Toyota would come out with a classic version truck of a 1st gen Tacoma or pickup. Kinda like Ram does. I bet it’d sell so well. Just sharp looking.
