I’ve been considering skid plates for my 2020 Tacoma. Im loving the looks of the blue powder coated ones by M.O.R.E. But a couple of questions:

    1) What area is probably the most needed to start with? Front, Transmission, Rear Transfer Case?

    2) What’s your opinions on the best quality ones to buy?

    thanks in advance

Front and mid if you do any off roading at all. Go with steel if doing lots of rocks, get a cut out for the oil plug and a door for the filter unless you are ok with dropping the skids at every oil change. Otherwise it’s just a personal choice I went with RCI used them before and had good luck.

I’ve just recently started doing light off roading and over landing. However I am wanting to start getting into more and do more advanced stuff. I just recently got my truck lifted and bigger tires put on.

I have TRD skid painted black, and it can take some abuse. No plans on doing any rocking so my plan is to keep it light with aluminum. Not sure if I need more then front but sliders will come first.

I did the full overland skid from CBI in aluminum, and it paid for itself the first time out with it. Mostly desert off-roading.

Yes. I used a tank and steel 2 part epoxy with a chem resistant clear. Better than a powder coat but materials are very pricey. Big up for the demo products from PPG paints.

Aluminum is lightest and still provides better coverage than most need.

If you plan on bashing the truck, you should buy the whole undercarriage set at once incase it changes later, it can vary case by case. They are usually 2-3 pieces and need to be compatible with each other.

    Work in progress...
I went with the trd pro type, simi pro. Way better protection than the stock set up out in rock county for casual power line, gas line, and exploring type of trails.

Very much agree, sliders come before any skid plates.
