I know this kind of stuff is beaten to death, but from what I can see, those questions are all due to going to a bigger tire, such as 265/70/17 or 265/75/16.
I dont want bigger tires, I like the stock sport size of 265/65/17.
But a friend of a friend has a set of slightly used matte black Fuel Shok wheels he wants to get rid of and they are -12 offset.
Im pretty sure they wont rub, but wanted to double check with you guys to see if a -12 offset wheel would rub on the stock 265/65/17 AND mudflaps. I definitely want to keep the flaps. I see how much snow, salt and gunk get stopped by them and not on my rockers. Im not losing them.
I could also get them in 0 offset, but would like to take advantage of this deal on the used ones if I could.

They may, or may not. But could be corrected by alignment. They are moving out, 1.5"+

They will rub like a mofo probably. I was under the same impression when I first got new wheels and tires. I ended up with 17x9 -12 offset wheels. 265/70/17 tires and rubbed terrible even with the flaps off. I then lifted around 1.25” and still rubbed lol.

Ok, Ill probly pass then. Moving out 1.5" IS alot. I just assumed most of the rub issues were due to the 1" bigger tires.
But since you still rubbed even after a slight lift AND flaps off (bigger tires, but still), Im not even going to bother trying with them.
I appreciate the info guys, thanks.

Stay with 0 to +4 offset and you’ll be good. My friend runs the 4runnner sema wheels and ran 265/70/17 no issue with the flaps. He recently just went to 255/75/17 and still does not rub with his flaps on (stock suspension).

^^ This. I have the OEM 4Runner wheels that are a +4 and stock size 265/65 17s with mud flaps and no issues at all. I could have gone to 265/70 without issue most likely, but I didn't want to give the vertically challenged Mrs 1/2 inch more of a challenge getting into the truck.

I had -10 offset in an 8.5 wide wheel and I had loads of room with 265/65/17 on stock suspension. With flaps
