I do have a buddy whose had these tires for years on his old beat up ford. Iv never tried khumos. Bad have tried the following. Coopers. Bf goodrichs. Goodyears. And now these falkens. None of the tires i mentioned had any signs of dryrot when they where replaced or sold. But all in all id say coopers and goodyears are my top favorites. From my experience. Id like to try out the cooper st maxx or the nittos. But im torn now after this falken experience. Its either coopers / goodyears or possibly the nittos next for me i think

I find it a little odd that Wildpeaks have their problems when Jeep uses them as stock for multiple Wrangler and Gladiator models.

I have x5 285/70R17 in P rated on SCS Ray 10's on my 4runner. Run them at 30psi, 5 tire rotation every 5k. About 15k in and zero issues. Wearing nice and even. Wet/snow performance is superb. Only "issue" I've observed is they are starting to hum on the highway. They were dead quiet when new. Not a real problem, just an observation.

I had Nitro Trail Grapplers on Pro Comp wheels before this and they drove like cinder blocks. The seats would shake so much my kids would make loud "aaaaaaa" noises because it would sound funny on the highway because of the vibration, my sun visors would shake lol. Next tires will likely be General Grabber ATX or Cooper ST MAXX if I can make my wallet cooperate.

I think quality from hankook is right up there with kumho and falken. Roll the dice again if you like.

edit: jeezuz. Just realized how old that message was that I quoted.

I too have been considering the General and Cooper options as well. A buddy has spent hours researching and settled on the ST MAXX.

I put wildpeaks (265/70/17) on my '05 a month or two ago and don't have noise like that. I don't do a ton of highway driving lately (thanks covid) but have taken it offroad a couple times, haven't noticed anything like that.

Mine have been quiet and balanced well (P265/75R16). Happy with the performance overall but I don't think they're as good in the snow as everyone makes them out to be. Still prefer to run a winter tire about 4-5 months a year.

I've had two punctures, one of which was a screw that would have gone through any tire and the other was like a one in a million rock hit that drilled straight through the siping in one of my tread blocks. No sidewall issues to speak of and mine see quite a bit of offroad use.

I loved mine when I got them. Much better in the wet and snow than the popular A/T I have been using my whole life. But, they ended up vibrating a ton and they got very dry, cracked, and wore out quickly after about 30K. When I bought them, I would recommend them to everyone, now I say don't buy them. Put a set of BFG on and can't believe how much nicer it is to drive my truck again.

Whats everyones opinions on general atx p rates for wet and snow??? I'm about to get some fuel blitz rims...would of like to keep it 16 inch but cant seem to find the general atx in 265/70/16 so I guess I'm waiting a little longer ans getting the 17 inch fuel blitz ans 265/65/17 general atx. From what ive read they are quiet ans great traction all around except for ice.

I think it might be the ray 10s causing the issue

Hear me out I have the exact same issue on my 4runner, I'm running scs ray 10s -negative 10 offset on stock size wildpeaks (265 70 17) e rated and just like op said kinda only happens when cold or intermittent (only 2k miles on tries and rig) however this is like my 5th set I've ran on my various rigs I've owned and I've never had an issue with the wildpeaks but my first time with scs wheels

I've had an issue with rubbing with the wheels as well despite it being only a negative 10 offset and this was after a 2.5 inch front lift with camburg ucas and an alignment from rpm garage (proper reputable off road/toyota shop here in socal) I had to remove front mudflaps

Could be coincidence haven't had time to go in for a road force balance and hope it is a coincidence because I love the wheels despite all that

Wanted to reiterate this post again for people, based on my current situation. I have a set of stock sized Falken AT3W's 265/70R16 on my 2020 off-road. About 2 yrs of use in Canada, 30,000km. Original tread depth is 13/32 and my measure about 9 to 10 now so not that much use. Tires were rotated 4 times in that span and pressure maintained at 35psi.

I noticed some sever damage on one tire while I was washing it and bought a replacement two weeks ago. I do not remember driving over anything but though I must have. While dealing with this, I found cracking along the inner and outer tread blocks on all tires. My driving is 99% on road and maybe 1% dirt roads / frozen lake. See images below.

I ordered these tires from a popular online store in Canada and two came from their Toronto warehouse, one came from Edmonton, and one came from Calgary. All manufactured in 2019. The pair from Toronto were manufactured in the same week of the year so likely same batch. The other two were made in different weeks. So they can't even say this was one batch that was bad...if you have these tires (especially 2019 ones), be aware. I was likely pretty close to having a blowout on the highway. Pretty pissed to say the least.

I previously had high praise for these tires but now, I would say get something else. I will see what they do regarding warranty. If they are jerks about it, I will just get new tires and maybe put the new Falken tire on my spare. Not worth the risk driving on this garbage.

I purchased a set of as new one year old jeep takeoffs back in May of 21. They are LT285/70r17C. They are on a 2011 F150. No splitting or cracking yet. I’ve only put about 13000 miles on them though.

The online retailer I bought from didn’t help one bit with my warranty but I have to say Falken stepped up. They took my claim with photos and measurements and basically said go by a new set and we will reimburse you the pro rated amount. I’m in the process of doing that now.

The recent research I’ve done on all brands, there always seems to be some instances of cracking so it seems like a problem that all manufacturers have now and again. Not saying it’s acceptable. More so saying it’s probably not avoidable by simply switching brands. Will see how this second set goes.
