Probably not the first time he's done this. Such a nice color on a new car to just scrape the paint off.IMG_20221220_151717.jpg

Years ago, around Christmas time, an elderly woman was waiting for this guy to pull out. Two girls in a convertible VW Rabbit slide in and steal her spot, laughing their asses off and waved all cutesy at the woman. This just hit me as wrong so I thought I would mete out a little justice. I cut off two of their tire valves. Figured this would inconvenience them more than just a single tire change. When I came back out of the mall they were just standing there looking stupid. I know it's petty but it made my day.

Another time, when my son was young enough for me to pull this off, we were walking down a sidewalk outside our bank. This young woman in an Escalade pulls into a handicapped parking spot. As she and her daughter jumped out I said to my son in a voice loud enough to be heard "You see son, these handicapped spots are for people who are physically handicapped, not for those who are mentally handicapped". The look I got was totally worth it. I just laughed and kept on walking.

I have a handicap placard for my disabled mother-in-law, which I only use when she’s in the car with me.

Some things I have noticed over the years…

I’ve seen people who have regular handicap placards use the specific handicap spots with van access, not all remaining handicap spots have van access so you’re taking a spot from somebody who needs that when you don’t need it. I’ve seen a land whale arguing with a family with a child in a motorized wheelchair, probably from cerebral palsy, telling them that she took the last space from them while she has half a dozen regular spaces for herself.

I’ve also noticed that if all the handicap spaces are full, then people will use the hashed out spaces as an “overflow” handicapped parking like they don’t realize that people need that to access their vans.

Lastly, my mother-in-law who can walk on her own, but gets tired easily, has been criticized for using handicapped parking when there are people “more handicapped than her,” which also makes my brain hurt.

That last part..grrr. My friend used to catch shit for that. It was his aunt's car and had the plate (pre placard), but he would never use a spot unless he was out with her or picking her up. Would have saved a few minutes walk at school for him but he refused to do it.

Each state is different about it, but typically if you have a handicapped hang tag because you’re transporting somebody who’s handicapped, you’re only supposed to display it/use it when they are in the car with you. I forgotten to take it down once or twice, but I only park in handicap spots when she’s with me.

I totally get this, but this woman had no placard, she was just lazy and entitled.

True, this was mid 1990s so there was no placard here..license plate bore the symbol instead.

    That's ridiculous!

The only saving grace is...he's probably furthest away from everyone.

Which is how I like to park so as no one parks close to me. lol

I was thinking of borrowing one of the store's fat people scooters and "accidently" drive into the side of the car where he blocked the ramp.

I've been teaching my daughter how to drive (and park) a DCLB. specifically how to ensure she can pick an appropriate space that she can have a good angle to fit it in. unlike this highlander that angled in on her. She had a tight squueze to get in.

yeah, it was a squeeze to fit her body between the truck and highlander, hold the door open a crack without dinging the highlander, and sliding in sidways to get in and pull the truck out. she's not even 115lbs, so that was a shitty park job by the hughlander.

I had something like this happen to me the other day. I parked, there was a Lincoln SUV to my right. I was between my lines perfectly. As I'm checking my phone, the Lincoln person comes out and gets in their car, tapping my door whilst doing so with hers. My head snaps up and of course she's oblivious.

I get out and walk to my passenger side to check for damage..thankfully none. She then sees me and rolls down her window to say "what?"

Me: You just hit my door with your door, ma'am
    Her: Oh no I didn't.
Me: (now a tad irked) yes, I was in my truck and heard the noise plus saw it hit in my side view mirror. You certainly did hit my door.
    Her: Oh..(blank stare)
Me: Fortunately I don't see any damage. Otherwise you would be paying to repair it.
    Her: ....
Me: Yes, just because I drive an old truck doesn't mean I don't care and doesn't mean you can hit it with your new door. Oh, helpful hint..I just noticed you parked straddling the lines. If you park within the lines like I did and like you're supposed to, there's less chances of this happening.
    Her:.....
    Me: You're ignorant.

That's not only petty, it's criminal. Don't go damaging peoples cars because you feel they deserve it. How would you feel if someone perceived you as an asshole and took justice out on your truck? Never mind if there were cameras on that area, you could have potentially been liable if those girls were smart enough to realize why their tires are flat. This reaction makes you the bigger asshole.

I had a very similar situation like this happen to me, and I would have been furious if some bystander decided to do what you did based on what you saw. Was Christmas shopping with a buddy probably around a decade ago at a nearby outlet mall. Parking lot obviously packed to the brim. As we pulled into the lot, we saw a family heading out towards the parking lot. Lowered the window, asked them if they were leaving, they said yes, so we crawled behind them to follow them like 3 rows in to where they were parked. Once they left, we pulled into the spot. As we got out, some old couple pulled up next to us and started cursing us out for "stealing their spot".

Now imagine if someone had seen only the latter part of this interaction unfold, and decided to give me my karmic "justice". I'd be out two tires, a lot of time and inconvenience during the worst time of the year to deal with that stuff. I really hope you aren't still acting like this, or worse yet teaching your son to act like this.
