Not to be forward, but what does something like that pay?

I have a great job making stupid good money, but I'm not happy doing it. It's stressful and I've found that my stress affects my personal hobby life a great deal. Besides that, it's kind of a thankless job...even doing it right, people aren't generally happy. Needless to say, I kind of want to start over in a another field.

The Army is always hiring for its helicopter depot in Corpus Christi Tx. Government civilian job. So can’t really beat the benefits. Lot of the locals use it as a stepping stone for experience before jumping down to Kingsville Tx as a contractor for the Navy doing the trainers for a lot more money and a fair bit of travel.

Working for Lockheed as an hourly employee can be pretty stressful. But it's a good idea to start there to get your foot in the door and do whatever it takes to become a salaried employee. You'll be treated completely different once you make that transition. Once hired, you should wait one year before applying for other positions within the company, as a courtesy. So expect at least a year of working a potentially stressful job before you can move on.

Lockheed has a referral program as well, so if you happen to find a job posting that interests you, you could send it my way along with your resume and contact info so I can put in the referral for you. You should receive an email shortly after I have submitted it, that will be for you to complete the application. When it comes to resumes, Lockheed does not like generic. They love to see resumes tailored to the job they're applying for, so definitely take the time to get your resume set up before applying.

Are you near any major airports? Well, I guess even if you’re not, apply at the major airlines. They are all hurting for people. I’ll say that you won’t start at the location you want and probably be on late/Night Shift but might be worth a shot.
I know of a specific airline that’s hired right out of A&P school.
Another thing, try visiting local small airports and talk to the FBOs. They might know. Maybe you can do a little work with another A&P to get your currency going.

Well, I'm still employed by Lockheed and bought a home 30m south of Greenville.

Just a small update. I have been on short term disability since February. Pain in my back has limited my walking, standing, and sitting. The only comfortable position is on my back. I have started the paperwork for surgery.
