    Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how and where to apply this bulb grease? My taillight keeps blowing.

Yes it's the dielectric grease. Thanks I'm just a little confused, it says not to put it on metal so I was just trying to clarify exactly where to put it.

It's really not necessary......I've never done it anyways lol. But it needs to go on the connection/contact points....which is most likely metal...

My taillight keeps blowing and this was one of the troubleshooting methods to stop it.
I know nothing about trucks or cars and my dad gave me his Tacoma but it's pretty beat up. I'm dyi-ing all the things I can because, like the rest of us, I can't afford to bring it to the shop.

When does it blow? When you turn it on, or when you turn it on with the parking lights on what initiates that bulb to blow is it just by clicking on the blinker switch and is it just one side?

I applied a light coat. Like just a dab and smear to the wire terminals on the bulb.
The socket for the bulb uses a gasket so you “shouldn’t” need the grease. But I still can’t help my self to use it.

The grease isn’t likely to resolve your problem. Unfortunately.

Pull the taillight assembly out and make sure none of the wiring has worn through and is grounding. Then make sure the actual ground for the taillights is still solid. Disconnect that ground and clean it.

^^^^ This. I live in the rust belt, and we use Dielectric grease to prevent corrosion in the socket and on the bulbs. Even a small amount of condensation in that area will accelerate corrosion. And once it starts, that connection is forever toast.

As for your taillight bulbs continuously blowing, that's most likely a separate problem.

I'm sorry guys I forgot to update you gentlemen on my light bulb issue. Ok, so the dielectric grease I bought was for bulbs specifically. So I'm assuming that people do use it on taillight bulbs.
But fortunately, after reading most of the comments, I went back to the truck pulled the taillight assembly out again and noticed that the bulb on the working side had a different colored bulb on the top and on the side that kept blowing had the same clear bulb on the top and bottom. So I went back to the auto parts store and found out that the yellowish-colored light bulb (which is for the blinker) was what I was supposed to be using in the top part of the taillight.
I replaced the bulb with the yellow one and I haven't had a problem since.
Now that little tiny light bulb that lights up the shifter panel, that's a whole other animal. Lol.

    Everybody STOP about the grease!
Ignore the grease, this dude has a short circuit. LoL

Oh, when does the bulb blow? While driving, while braking, while the truck isn't even on?
    Details...

Update- LMFAO, nevermind, he was just using the wrong bulb...

My 2014 had its LH headlight replaced (broken plastic brackets) and my neighbor asked why it had a different shade of Amber light than the other side. Much more of a light yellow. Pulled the two bulbs for a look and the numbers didn't match. The number on the new assembly (supposedly Toyota) matched what the auto parts stores listed as a replacement ..... but I found that the "real" replacement should have the exact same number as the RH ....... 3157NAK. Turns out the "K" suffix shows the internal gas is Krypton and the bulb runs cooler for use in the "driving light" service.

Not all amber lamps are created equal........

No. Women are just as capable as men.
And probably better in a lot of instances.

Nope had nothing to do with that. My wife is actually pretty hands on with her car and around the house.

I’ve noticed over the years whenever there is a female announced on any forum…thirsty guys go crazy messaging and flirting with them lol!

The clear bulb wouldn't be the reason for the blow outs. The yellow/orange one is basically a painted white one. You either had bad bulbs or you have a bad connection.

Seeing "bulb grease" in the title reminded me that I need to top off my "blinker fluid." :D
