What should I expect my labor cost to be for sparkplug replacement?

I called the dealership today to get a quote for sparkplug replacement and they said it would only take 1 hour or $147+tax in labor. That seems very low as Googling lead me to believe that it would be 500-600 dollars plus parts as it is fairly labor intensive due to the design of the V6

What should I realistically expect? I am trying to decide if it is worth having the dealership do it or if I am better off changing them myself. Prices are in CAD.

The old 4.0 was 1 hour the new one is 2. So they misquoted.

the quote includes removing the intake manifold, but every one leaves it on and sneaks out the plugs.
I’d say expect 340$ plus plugs.

If you’re in Calgary I can help you out. But your name implies Ontario lol

That is a fair price. I always do my own and takes me less than an hour

Alldata shows 3.0 hours labor plus parts. Labor will depend on your local market area.

Does dealer wait until engine is cold to change them?

first time i changed them on 2nd gen took about 45 minutes. about 2-3 minutes per plug.

Let the dealer do the work for that price. I normally charge about $200 labor.

Unless that dealer knows how to change the plugs without pulling the intake manifold. I managed to avoid having to do that when i changed mine

This universal adapter makes the job a lot easier. I have a snap on and a matco version. But any brand should do.
