LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

Nice!! Did the transmission sit further back than the Toyota one? I am planning on reusing what I can from the Tacoma and adding in AN stuff where needed. I think it's AN -6 for the 4L80e lines, I'm also going to reuse the stock trans cooler that came in the truck. It's not huge but it will be a good starting place.

 

No, it actually sits a little further forward, at least visually. Had to otherwise I would've had a crazy transmission angle.

 

That’s not what I was expecting. From I measured I’m going to be going past the factory transmission crossmember. What did you set you driveline angles up to be?

 

My transfercase sits past the stock crossmember. Quite a bit, but the GM Corsa member mount on the trans sits right over the stock Tacoma crossmember. Couldn’t be more perfect.

My engine and trans are at a -5 degree angle relative to the frame, biased towards the rear.

Well that worked out well for you. From measuring things up my transmission mount is about 6” plus past the factory crossmember.

Did you offset your engine at all to allow clearance for the steering components? @tacotunner06 recommended about 1/2” to the passenger side.

 

Yeah im passenger side biased too, I cleared the steering no problem.

 

Just a little update. 454 Motorsports is making really fast work out of this DMZ SUA kit.

Springs and axel goes in today, going to start cycling stuff!

While he has the truck apart, he's going to be doing a mazulla rear bumper, and a 454 low profile hitch receiver.

My front BTF Long travel stuff is finally nearing its shipping date, so I was discussing install stuff with 454, and right now since there's no motor, he's going to install a double shear kit for the front upper control arms. He's also leaving the spring perches on the axle just tacked into place, since there's no driveline he cant set the pinion. I'm going to have the truck back in 2 ish weeks, then I'll get the motor in for good. Once the rest of the BTF stuff gets here, im going to bring the truck back to him to have the front LT installed, as well as have the driveline and pinion built. He's going to do a DRT fab spindle gusset and CMR at the same time. Lots of fun haha.

Cant say enough good things about 454 motorsports. Highly recommend. Fair pricing, quick work, great communication. Also, incredibly thorough. He noticed one of my return fuel line fittings was cracked so he went ahead and replaced it. I don't know of many shops that are this meticulous.

Spring perches just tacked, since I don't have a driveline. Cant set pinion angle without it! Once the motor is in Im going to bring it back and have it set and finish welded in.

LOL I probably went backwards in terms of reliability but it'll be fun. There a few members on here who got really mad on Facebook about a GM engine going in a Toyota, instead of keeping it pure.

I'll let them stay mad while im gapping them. lol.

 

There is a reason a man in Southern California made a fancy living out of swapping ls motors into land cruisers.
