What's up everyone?! New to the group, I love and appreciate all of the information.
Picked up a 05 Tacoma Pre-Runner in October, I found info on this forum about the blower motor and resistor pack issue and got that fixed.

The next issue, I am trying to get figured out is the Outside temperature/compass display. When I picked it up it didn't work at all and just recently it has started fading in and out. I pulled down the overhead console and checked all of the connections and it all looked good, nothing burnt but it's still fading in and out.

    Thoughts?

:frusty:They were know for issues after sometime.
I bought the updated version, as I thought mine did not work well either.. temp was freaking out……95 when it was 36. Lol
well I have a 2011, and the wiring is different in my year truck, and did not come with this option.
So the guy before me must have tried to put this in not knowing it would not work and I spent good money for the upgraded version for nothing. Ya need one?

Most likely resistor. Fixed it once on my 09 already and apparently I didn’t do a good enough job so need to fix it again. Last time though I just resoldered. This time I’m replacing the resistor as well

Followed this, but I had to use a 10x magnifying glass to see the bad resister joint. Used a soldering iron to just re-melt the solder, worked like a champ. The issue was finding which joint was bad and the magnifying glass was the tool for the job.
