The cats came from the customers oem headers. Amazon had v-bands on sale last time I stocked up. You will definetly want to use vibrant v-band flanges that self align. I should also note that v-bands aren't necessary. The cats can be welded straight to the header without any issues.

Clearly the owner wanted the option to be able to swap out the cats. Which can be a wanted feature, if wanting to swap in "test pipes." As what we did for my GF's headers.

One more tip if you're going with male/female v-bands is to make sure one header gets a male on the header side flange and one the other header gets the female flange. That way you can't mix up which cat goes on which side. You'll also only need to purchase 1 spare v-band setup to do your test pipes, vs two if you oriented the flanges the same

The owner actually did it for ease of install. I tried to talk him into a set of test pipes while we had everything in the jigs, prior to shipping him back his parts.

Sorry to interject. @IdRatherBNTheSanJuans But I have an extra 2.25" Vibrant v-band for sale if anyone wants it. I bought it from Amazon for my y-pipe install but never used it. It's brand spankin' new.

Damn. I have a P0420 code. Replaced the downstream o2 sensor and the code came back. Figured it must be a bad cat. Thought these afe headers looked like a nice option. Found this thread and it looks like they’re garbage, and $1000 more expensive now. Their list price is $1640 or something like that.

GESI cats could be an option to have welded in.

I found my bank 1 manifold to y pipe flange actually was loose. Hoping that solves it. Ironic that this all started shortly after Toyota replaced my frame…

Very likely a connection. If that was the only problem after a frame swap, I'd say it went quite well. We'll know soon enough if tightening that flange down stops your code issue.

Bumping this thread. I've got a bunch of stuff apart on my truck (tranny swap) and now looking at just doing headers while I'm in there. I want main cats in place (no cat-less long tubes) so thinking these or the DT. Which would you guys go with? I can weld my OEM cats on with the DT's but my flange stud is buggered so thinking the AFE's would be a nice swap.

I have my reservations on these, especially on boosted 1GR's but I'm thinking I'll pick up a set for the up coming dyno session and parts testing we do (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...no-testing-by-ott.759616/page-4#post-28758647) to better assess these on a N/A vehicle.

I keep reading that in my research about the AFE headers. Thinking DT might be the way to go as I'd love to boost someday. But please keep us posted.

Also, Justin, I'm really busy and having a hard time carving out time to finish my swap, but I'm going 3rd gen manual RC62f swap in my 2nd gen auto. I'll be reaching out to you to take care of my auto ECU to get it to play with the manual tranny. Thanks!

They tripled in price since last I checked. At least there's a reason other than just inflation.

Those cats alone are a ~$500 a piece.
