    Hey TW,

Just got back from having line x spray my 1st gen. I opted in for the premium liner + over the rails. When I got home I noticed the underside of the rails (all sides) looked like they were missed? I called the dealer and they said it was normal on all their installs. They said the spray gun wouldn’t allow for such small spaces because the tip sprays about 6” wide?

anyway, for those of you who have had line x sprayed — is this normal?

Take it back and show them. Every inch should've been covered, at least it was on mine. Whoever told you that gibberish about 6 inches probably breast fed from his dad.

That little overhang is not commonly seen in trucks built after 1990 , so I'm not surprised. It's shitty that they weren't upfront about it, but given the kind of shops that do liner ... I'm not surprised.

If it were me, I'd plastic/tape off the line they stopped at and hit the underside with a couple cans of herculiner.

I’d probably just mask it off and hit it with some black rattle can if it bothered me enough. It’s out of sight. I’d feel like taking it back and having them fix is 50/50 they fix it right or spray it and fuck something else up since it’s now a “hassle” to them.

Yeah, I'd be a little annoyed at the lack of coverage and more annoyed at the installer's response.

That area is recessed.. You cannot see it without a flashlight and bending way into the bed to look. Covering that area will not make a bit of difference. The shop told you the truth on the spray pattern and did a fine job IMO. I did my own spray in liner, know what I am talking about and didn't worry about covering that area.

It's your hard earned money that you spent, if you are unsatisfied, take it back and get it don't right.

It sounds like you could go back and ask them to address it, but you'll have to decide if is worth what it will cost in your time and exasperation getting them to fix your concern.

Thanks everyone! I’m not sure what I’ll do. I had the week off from work for the holidays. The Line X dealer is about an about and some change away, without traffic. And they’re closed on the weekend. So it would be tough to get out there again as I’m working during the week.

I do have some left over raptor liner lying around… I think I’ll take it on myself at some point?

It would have taken Line-X about 60 seconds to spray both sides under there...that being said, the way the paint looks under there, nothing seems to ever have gotten in there. I'd leave it as is and forget it.

yeah I agree with ya! Would be such a pain to take work off during the week, drive an hour away, have them prep then spray… I’ll hit it with my left over raptor liner from a previous project.

sometimes you just gotta let it go right!?
