Now hold up! The original problem of breaking down on the expressway was resolved by replacing the ignition coils (111k miles) and spark plugs (51k miles)

THEN 2 days later got a rough idle while in reverse. I wasn’t sure what it was…dirty MAF sensor, dirty throttle body, or I thought because I put sea foam in the gas tank maybe that coulda broke something up to cause a temporary rough idle, I wasn’t sure..

I CLEANED the MAF sensor and throttle body and it’s been good! I’ll keep this thread updated if anything else changes.

Ohhhhh. Makes sense now. Still crazy though. Last time that happened to me was in my Prius when a major component in the hybrid system failed. Bad coil plugs is still minor to cause a problem like that though. When the coil plug in my 1st gen went bad, all I got was a misfire code but it didn't lose power like you.

I definitely wasn’t expecting it. I changed the spark plugs 2 years ago and noticed 2 of the coils were burnt from the spark plugs coming loose. 50k miles later, that’s the side that had the misfires so I’m assuming they both caused an issue at the same time for the truck to do that.

I have replaced fake densos on various rigs in the last 2 years. How did yours look? The left one is oem denso with 70k , the right one is denso from rockauto with 15k on it, both same part number. It drove and idled fine but popped a pending misfire code.

That PID is 18% at 0% accelerator and 100% accelerator. Tried in Neutral as well.no noise from the throttle motor.

I guess I am just more inclined to believe the documentation provided directly from Toyota than what a 3rd party aftermarket app tells me. :notsure:

I just cleaned my TB at 40k miles. Took about 5 minutes. I’m glad I did it, got a lot of the gunk out. Idle was a bit high for about 5 minutes afterwards. I cleaned my MAF as well.

I had no issues with idle or drivability. I did it as preventative maintenance.

I understand about cleaning the throttle body, is the sensor cleaning process easy and documented?
