Hi it’s me again, the fun never stops. My 2016 Tacoma popped this lovely warning for me and it’s on and off depending on the day. The code that comes up on my scanner is U0232 for the slave module. Anyone have any experience with this? It started to give me an issue after an application of fluid film if that makes a difference

Time for a high clearance rear bumper! Mine never worked from the factory. Kept giving false indications of vehicles or failing just like yours ever since 51 miles. Had the dealer check it during my toyotacare visits and they said that the axis was out of alignment but they couldn't fix it. I didn't trust it anyway so I just put a high clearance bumper on there and capped off the wires. That said, I have two sensors if you want one!

Step one, make sure that there isn't any accumulated snow hanging on the underside of your rear bumper.

Step two, if the insides of your bumper are clean, you might need to pull and clean the BSM sensors. You said fluid film - there's a chance that overspray collected on the sensor face.

How much would you want for the sensors?

Happened to me and i brought it in to be covered under the 100000km warranty and they tried to blame it on everything from my LED headlight bulb replacement to my interior LED replacement. I bought the truck a year old and bought the extended warranty. So advance 3 years and my driver side heated seat goes. I bring it in to get them to fix it under extended warranty and fix the BSM...now the extended warranty people have to cover this shit and I pay the deductible. Guess who decides to fix it now... Its been perfect ever since.

There is a tsb that applies to this i believe.
You start by checking connections under the truck near the bumper. Disconnect them all and check for corrosion then reseat and see if it clears.

It’s usually the module but I’ve seen a few with bad connections.
