Currently have a diamondback SE cover which has been great for securely storing my gear on trips.however I’m thinking to switch to a smartcap mainly for camping trips and stealth camping. Do you think it’s worth it for the 5ft bed. I know I can sleep diagonally but not sure how realistic that is if I’ve got gear in the back. I’m 5’11 for reference. Any solutions to this problem? Wedge camper would be amazing but struggling with the price.

I personally loved my smartcap on my 2019. I’ve been on the search for one for my long bed 2023. The modular setup made it the best shell imo.

Love mine besides the scratches, haven't yet slept inside but gotta fix the side leaks on the bed, not RSI fault

I switched to a smartcap after owning a ARE camper shell. I don’t think anything in the 5ft bed will be comfortable for sleeping. The RSI has zero insulation with all that steel. That goes for cold or hot weather. They also don’t unlock from the inside, at least not until they eventually release the new latches. Either way we don’t opt to sleep in there, it’s ok for our 2 German Shepherds tho. We sleep in the ikamper or the shiftpod. The RSI is a solid choice for storing gear and making things accessible overall. My dogs love to stick their heads out the windows.9FCCC6B9-8CAF-4C87-AA01-F6777222C41D.jpg

Yep as the above poster has said, insulation is non existent. Froze my ass off in the winter and sweat my balls out during the summer. Size wise it was ok for me, (5’7) had a bam board setup along with a dac cover so I could keep the tailgate down. Decided to ditch the whole set up and ordered a wedge.

Short bed is not ideal to sleep in unless you can leave the tailgate down. Even diagonally it's uncomfortable unless you have a sleeping platform to get you above the wheel wells. I'm 5-9.

I do love my Smartcap though.
